I'm really enjoying this series. How horrible for someone to name their child Lucifer. A hardened warrior gets taken down by a novice and a mother finds her long abandoned son. She's a good writer but gives away the plot too soon. The sexual content was clean. Look forward to reading next book.

Twenty three years had passed since a baby was left on the steps of a church. A priest took him in and was raising him to be a monk. The daughter of an Earl decides to become a nun. She thinks she must try to atone for what she considers sins committed by her mother and two older sisters. Then Fate steps in and changes things. Lucifer or Lucas as he rather be called, had already left the church and had started doing evil things for the Priest who raised him. He came back wounded asking the Priest for help. Amber, a novice nun, was assigned to help him recover from his wounds. Now Fate steps in and starts playing her "games". They are both given a pilgrimage to go to Canterbury Cathedral. Lucifer is given two tasks, one is to steal a ruby and two, he is to make sure Amber doesn't become a nun. If you want to find out how and when Fate starts playing her games, well you'll just have to read the book.

I became very frustrated with this book almost immediately. I don't understand the good reviews. The dialogue is wooden with long speeches---the author seems to have no knowledge of beats.. Although there appears to be some knowledge of the time period, including the story's references to religious beliefs and behaviors, these are insufficient to overcome the contemporary feel engendered by the contemporary speech and personalities of the characters, eg, the H saying, "Don't worry your pretty little head" and the h saying, "I guess you are perhaps from around these parts." A wordsmith Ms. Rose is not. Many sentences use awkward phrasing, sometimes to the point of making the sentence difficult to understand, and words are sometimes misused. For example, she says "he donned a sword" to mean he was wearing a sword rather than the correct usage of his putting on a sword. A couple of sentences give a little of the flavor, such as "Her instinctive nature to help and serve, winning over her fear." and the h saying to the H, "Your words are daring by denying the existence of the devil." This novel gave me a headache and I quit at 10% through. A waste of my time.

A very clever and interesting story. I really fell in love with Lucas and Amber. With all the twists and turns you really had to read between the lines. I enjoyed the friendship that developed between Sir Romney and Maribelle with Lucas and Amber. Amber was a delight, she was not afraid to be the first to admit she changed her mind. Lucas of course had to come to terms with his feelings for Amber.

Amber (Daughters of the Dagger Series Book 3) by Elizabeth Rose is an interesting and entertaining story. While, Book 3 in the "Daughters of the Dagger" series, can be read as a stand alone, I'd suggest reading the other two, as well. Very interesting series!

Well written with engaging and interesting characters. The storyline is filled with secrets, lies, betrayal, greed, corruption and of course, finding romance and love. Along with some adventure.
Meet, Amber de Burgh, a novice in training at the Sisters of St. Ermengild. And, Lucifer, aka Lucas, on a mission to steal the Regale ruby of Canterbury Cathedral at Becket's shrine. He stumbles into the Sisters of St Ermengild, wounded and changes Amber's life forever, or will she change Lucas'?

A powerful story with many facets! Readers are drawn into Amber and Lucas' story from the beginning. Amber and Lucas learns a hard lesson on life, people, consequences and how people in power and position are not always honest but vile and do dispicable acts. Secrets and lies swirl around Amber and Lucas like a tornado. But, will they learn the truth before it's too late? Will they find their HEA or lose all?
Historical Romance fans will enjoy this romance with a few twists and turns and many facets of a wonderfully written story. Strongly recommended. A complicated and compelling story. Rose is a talented author and one of my favorite in a variety of genre. She draws readers into her stories from the first chapter to the last. Another hit, Ms. Rose!

Here is another wonderful story. I just can't say enough about Elizabeth Rose 's book. She always keeps me at the edge of my seat w wondering what is going to happen next. I am going to start the last story in this series "Amethyst" but to me it is not really the last story because Onyx is their brother but he actually starts a new series which I will read. I hope you will enjoy Amber' story as much as I do.

A story full of twists and unexpected turns that will keep you reading to the end. Elizabeth Rose created a story line that contained a pilgrimage of four of the most unlikely paired individuals. Two of those, of course, being Amber and Lucifer or Lucas as he prefers.

Lucas is an angry for never knowing the love of his parents or who they may have been. The fact that he was abandoned has left him rebelling and believing himself unworthy of so many things all the while trying to make him self better...a very complex man.

Amber believes her role in life is to be a nun and devote herself to God and pray daily for the sins committed by her family members. She is happy in her role with the church, but can't help but feel drawn to Lucas upon first sight.

Secrets are swirling around this unlikely band of travelers as they make their way to Canterbury Cathedral where time runs out and those secrets must come to light. Amber and Lucas must make decisions for the future as the past sets some free and others pay a penance. Will Amber and Lucas be freed of the past?

Elizabeth Rose writes compelling stories that I enjoy reading. This story has some humorous areas that I couldn't help but laugh at. The characters themselves were a great combination.
