About the author

Edgar Swamp's short stories have been published in Death Head Grin, Urban Reinventors, Macabre Cadaver, Alienskin and The Far Side of Midnight. He is the author of The Gyre Mission, a horror/satire novel, and Glitch in the Machine, which is Sci-fi/dystopian/satire. His latest offering is Blackout: The Life and Sordid Times of Bobby Travis, a crime/satire novel. As one can discern from the genre’s listed, the main theme that runs through Swamp’s books is satire. Ever the humorist, Edgar delights in making people laugh, no matter what kind of tale he is telling. Blackout offers that and more; Swamp’s prose is snarky and witty, infusing action sequences and rapid fire dialogue that are reminiscent of Brett Easton Ellis at his peak, as well as Carl Hiaasen, Tim Dorsey, Stephen King and Chuck Palahniuk.
He currently resides in Carlsbad, Ca. Please peruse the reviews of his previous books on Amazon, as well as his profile on www.Goodreads.com. Several winners of two book giveaways have been kind enough to offer honest reviews of The Gyre Mission and Glitch in the Machine.

and there are only 5 survivors of a population of 600 inhabitants. The survivors contradict themselves and there is no direct way to get to the truth of what had happened. Sadie and Jeremy, are the detectives investigating the event. The book is well written, it has a steady and quick pace, describes the characters very well but not the event, so the plot goes all around the intrigue created by the survivors about a man, that supposedly died during the event, so there is not a loose end to start with, and the book has twists and turns that keep you wondering which is the truth, so I was not able to let the book until I finished reading and the end... well you need to read it.
First off, the cover is awesome. Second, the synopsis is intriguing and makes you want to read the story to see what it's all about. Third, the title of the book is the name of the town, but it's also so much more.
While reading I had to keep reminding myself the story was set in 1991. Every time a character used a pager or mentioned the long boot-up time for their computer, I was like, uh... oh yeah, 1991.
There is so much about this story that I loved. It's a mystery. It's horror. It's a very small touch of romance. And it's a story of revenge, if you will.
Amber Hollow has some amazingly likable characters. Sadie and Jeremy, the two detectives sent to investigate the strange event in Amber Hollow, are so great. They had a camaraderie that instantly endeared me to them, and you can't help but smile when those two are together.
Plot-wise, the story is paced nicely, although a couple of spots dragged a little for me. I did enjoy all of the backstory, though, when it's finally revealed. There was a lot going on with that, but it was thoroughly detailed, and I quite liked discovering the truth behind it all.
The only thing that irked me (just a tad) was the one characters disdain for Richard Laymon. I, myself, am a fan of Laymon, although this character considers him a "hack" and only has teenage boys as fan. I know it was just a silly opinion from a fictional character, but I was just a smidge offended by it. I'm a weirdo, I suppose.
Overall, Amber Hollow is a fantastic horror novel that will keep readers hooked until the very end.
