Frank Morgan is still marshal of Buckskin, Nevada. For six months the town had been pretty peaceful since the mines had the labor dispute settled & the men behind the trouble had been dealt with. Unfortunately that peace is about to come to an end as the marshal sees men with masks explode out of the Lucky Lizard Mining Company office. Bullets showered the street causing Frank to dive into Leo Benjamin's general store. Leo tosses Frank the Winchester kept behind the counter & he takes out three of the culprits with the fourth one out cold with a bullet in his shoulder. "Tip" Woodford & daughter Diana emerge from the mining office. Looks like Tip got a pistol up the side of the head but other than that, both are unharmed to Frank's relief. They were after the payroll for the Lucky Lizard. Meanwhile in Tuson, Arizona, eight killers rob Conrad Browning's bank, killing the bank president & a teller. Once outside they kill three town residents & Conrad immediately issues a $10,000 reward dead or alive.
This was a real page-turning adventure. If I had to choose one of the best of this series, it would be this one. I highly recommend this series but it's best to start with the first book to get the background on the "Last Gunfighter" Frank Morgan.
