Wi-Fi cameras are security cameras that send audio and video signals to a receiver using a radio band. These security cameras have a built-in transmitter that takes care of the transmission, which is useful when you don't want to run long video and audio cables around the surveillance area.
Multiple devices can be connected and your cameras will be able to access your local area network via the wireless router. Such a system makes it possible for your cameras to transmit information to and from one another and the internet. It is possible to connect multiple cameras to one router provided that there is enough bandwidth to handle all of the connected devices.

--This camera provides good functions for the cost: swivels and focuses remotely, has a mic and speaker, night vision, zoom, alarm and alert.
--Set up using your smart phone is really easy.
--Picture quality is very good.
--Hire a technical writer, Amcrest! The documentation is absolutely horrible. There are too many different logins and passwords, which gets very confusing when you're trying to log into the camera remotely. There is no explanation of the icons in the material in the package; you have to go searching for that online. The icons are not intuitive. Hire a technical writer who can communicate instructors to a public audience!
--The Web-enabled viewing system drops constantly. It requires you to log in all the time, and sometimes it won't log in at all. There are several ways to access your camera remotely and the ONLY way the tech help and I could figure out how to do it was through the company's web system, which is, well, just really spotty.
--The company doesn't understand the variety of knowledge that consumers bring to the task of remote setup. Some people "talk the talk," and can communicate in the jargon of the tech help people. Others need to be led through the process. Taking control of someone's screen is a little unsettling, frankly, though I can see why it's easier than doing things verbally over the phone.
--Amcrest, provide better videos for basic setup and especially for the remote Web setup. The videos are not labeled well and are for different products.
--Setup for remote viewing on a laptop or remote computer (via Web) was a nightmare: three calls of 40 minutes each. There has to be an easier way to set up viewing on a remote computer (this is what most people want to use the camera for: to be somewhere else, like their office, and log on to see their home. But setup for this is a maze of confusion).
The picture quality and automatic adjustment for day/night mode is excellent. For the price, it's very high quality.
Getting it working initially are fairly easy, and the ability to connect wired or wirelessly is great - no problems connecting to the network.
Downside: The software interface stinks and requires a proprietary plugin. The videos are stored in a proprietary format - not even VLC will play them. Their software and plugins do not work in Linux. The web interface can still be used to adjust the camera position and zoom, but otherwise, I am using Zoneminder (free software for linux) to use this camera ... I toyed with returning the camera for another with Linux support / normal formats, but since the quality is good and I can get it to work well I kept it. This requires CPU time on one of my computers instead of processing the images in the camera, but it works well.
My only one gripe is the Amcrest iPhone app. I keep having to add my camera from a list to view it when I open up the app. It doesn't stay on the initial view for whatever reason. Maybe I'm missing something. Aside from that it is highly configurable through its built-in management software or the desktop software you can download.
In the picture is my kitchen which is dimly lit at the moment but you can still see a great amount of detail. This shot was also taken remotely. If it gets any darker, the IR takes over and would cover the room so you can still see everything in great detail.
The deal breaker, though, is Amcrest Cloud.
Touted as a free 4-hour cloud service, it comes with a lot of unwritten caveats. The main hidden "feature" is that any camera that is connected to Amcrest Cloud has its settings overridden by the service. As an authoritative source, this in itself is not a bad idea. In practice, what it does is to turn your HD camera into a pile of standard definition, 10fps poop.
On March 6, 2017, at 5:01PM EST, I spoke to CSR Alfred Bates, who informed me that Amcrest Cloud overrides all camera settings, and there is no way to change these overrides. This adversely affects any Amcrest IP cameras that use Amcrest Cloud, as the settings set are:
• Resolution: 720p
• Frame Rate (FPS): 10FPS
• Quality: 3 (Bad)
• Bit Rate: 512
• Frame Internal: 20
There is no way to override these settings if you use Amcrest Cloud. Amcrest does this to limit the amount of storage space they have to use to keep people's videos. Even if you upgrade to the 7-day or 30-day plans, your camera settings are forced to the settings above. The only way to avoid it is to not use Amcrest Cloud. This is an issue that will never be fixed.
What does this mean for the consumer? It means that if you want to use the "free" Amcrest Cloud, even if you bought a 960p or 1080p HD camera, you are effectively getting the equivalent quality of a 480p, low-quality, 10fps, SD camera, scaled up to 960p/1080p size (not resolution).
Note: 720p is not technically SD, but at such poor quality and 10fps, it might as well be.
