Why is Bait Better?
Bait is considered one of the most effective methods for killing ants. Bait works even when you can't find the nest and unlike contact pesticides, bait can wipe out the entire colony by destroying the queen.
Bait is designed to taste like food, so it is enticing to ants. Once worker ants find the bait, they bring it back to be shared with the queen and the rest of the colony. Once the queen and other ants eat it, the whole mound dies.
As a means to ensure that the bait is shared with all the ants in the colony, there is a delayed reaction before the bait begins to take its full effect and kill all the ants in the colony. Therefore, bait is considered to be more effective than contact killers since bait is shared with the entire colony, while contact killers will only kill ants that come into contact with the product.
With AMDRO, it's game over for ants.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does Ant Bait take to work?
The active ingredient in AMDRO works with delayed action, ensuring worker ants have time to share the bait with the colony. Typically, the bait will begin to kill the queen within one week of application and will kill the colony within two weeks of application.
What is the best way to treat for ants I found inside my home?
If there are ants already inside your home, we recommend doing two things. First, use one of the AMDRO Kills Ants products listed for indoor usage above to kill the ants that are already inside. Second, apply AMDRO Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait granules around the outside of your home to prevent ants from getting inside.
Are the ant killer granules safe to use in a vegetable garden?
Due to the active ingredients in the granules in our AMDRO Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait, these items are not permitted for use in vegetable gardens. Therefore, vegetable gardens are not an application site where these products can be used. However, we would recommend using any of the Sevin Bug Killer items in your vegetable garden.
Is AMDRO safe to use around pets?
While instructions vary by product, it is recommended that you do not apply the product while pets are in the treatment area. However, you can let your pets back onto treated areas once the dust has settled.
Is AMDRO safe to use around livestock?
After applying AMDRO Ant Block Home Perimeter Ant Bait, we recommend that you do not graze or feed treated lawn or sod clippings to livestock.
Do I have to reapply granules if it rained after being put down?
For best results, we recommend not applying the product when the ground is soaking wet or when heavy rains are expected.
Is there a guarantee?
We stand behind the quality of our products and all AMDRO products come with a Satisfaction Guarantee. If, after following instructions, you are not satisfied with the product results, we will provide consumers with a full refund of the purchase price.

I sprinkled some tasty Amdro morsels near entry points of the garage door and in other strategic areas of the perimeter of the house. Just 24hrs later I have noticed a significant reduction in ants. In my estimation, their force has been reduced by 80% in just 24hrs. Amdro is like the MOAB in ant warfare. The stuff works! Order yours before it's too late!
I've used regular Amdro on the fire ants; but, have had absolutely no luck on controlling the leaf cutter ants with Amdro, Sevin Dust, Diatomaceous Earth, and a few other things I can't remember. We probably had two acres of leaf cutter ants if they were all crammed together (we have a little over a hundred acres). They can strip an area out in the hay meadow overnight.
The A&M guy said they use Amdro Ant Block in bait stations (learned something new - didn't know about bait stations). We bought eight of these Amdro Ant Block containers and some Ants No More - Ant Bait Stations 12 Stations from Amazon.
The A&M guy said the ants don't have to actually ingest the Amdro - all they have to do is brush up against it and they carry the enzyme into their food production and they die. I was a bit skeptical since we've been battling leaf cutter ants for years. We put some ant block in the bait stations and, for added warm and fuzzy, we sprinkled a bit around some of the large towns.
Our leaf cutter ant problem was resolved in the treated areas within a few weeks. We still have a few outlying areas that need treated; but, so far we've been successful in our eradication attempts and I'm not using that much Amdro Ant Block (I probably used four times as much regular Amdro). My next focus is using the ant block on the carpenter ants. I started using it for the fire ants when I ran out of regular Amdro.
I realize there is a group of folks who say the leaf cutter ants help make the soil healthy with their poop and aeration. If that was all they did, I'd leave them alone. Their defoliation is quite damaging. The other problem is the town is very deep in the soil and that area caves in after they abandon that area (it has been our experience they stay in an area about a year if undisturbed). The cave-ins are hard on a tractor when you're trying to mow the hay meadow and suddenly hit what is tantamount to a large pothole.
The Amdro Ant Block is working well for us.
