When someone say's "I like art deco", one has to be careful because not all art deco is equal. In this book, the majority are quite beautiful, well photographed and lovely examples categorised by region of the country. On one page, Grauman's Chinese Theatre is included with a side view illustration, and I would never have considered that to be art deco. This shows that the style is more homogenous than I realised. A detailed presentation of Bullock's Wilshire is one of my favourite, and can't believe I lived in L.A. for 3 years and never took notice. But there could have more pages dedicated to the Chrysler and Empire State buildings. Maybe those are books in and of themselves. Nevertheless, there is a wealth of information contained on the pages of this book, and the cover alone makes this a lovely presentation piece to have on display.
