This came in today just in time for family skate night!! What a BUST, as the left skate was assembled incorrectly. The left blade was not centered on the skate! I couldn't even walk in the them. I took them off immediately, tried again thinking that it was me and tightened the laces and top strap. The strap didn't break but it felt like it was going to break off. I also took them to the skate shop and had them look at the skates and while they were leveled the gentleman immediately said that they weren't assembled correctly. Well, I immediately put the skates away, rented a pair, and off I went to skating without any problems like I have for the past 40 years!!!! STAY AWAY FROM THESE SKATES!!!!!!
The blades were sharpened but not to the sharpness I needed. the blades were slipping every now and then when I tried to building up speed.
The strap didn't break after the first use (as mentioned in some of the negative posts). Even if I did, this can be solved with a new strap and some craftsmanship (go to Home Depot and/or Michaels).
One thing that none of the skates address is the foot bed. One may think you don;t need this, but ice is like concrete. It's not comfortable [to stand on] after 2 hours. I recommend you buy a footbed.
This skate addressed the foot comfort my bauer 8s didn't. I was told to get a skate size-1 compared to my regular foot size; but in the 8s my foot was tight against the footbed which was hard as a rock and there was some chafing. So in hindsight the recommendation should be [Shoe Size]-0.5 + footbed.
In my 8s I'd stop after every 3 laps to shake the pain out of you feet. In these, I could skate for an hour before I needed to sit. I think a footbed and tighter ice skate laces will address the looseness I feel in these.
