I can Cue either or both decks, and seamlessly create loops and beat match with ease. If you've though about a midi controller but have resisted, this is a great choice.
It's built like a tank, metal housing, solid controls, and fits well in a Gator bag for the VMS series. Can be powered with the supplied DC power source, but I've been running it off the USB bus without any problems.
The VMS comes with an "LE" version of VirtualDJ. If you don't currently have DJ software, or if you're on a windows platform, check it out. I've found nothing more complete and stable that MegaSeg. Give them a try as well.
All of the knobs except the cross-fader feel very solid.
The most durable of any Controller in this price range I've played with.
Comes with 2 outputs so you don't have to use a external mixer.
Comes with all the software you need to start mixing out of the box.
Could be improved
The Pitch only goes +/- 12%
Overall If your looking for a reliable 2 deck controller that doesn't feel like it was made in China this is perfect for you. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles some of the newest controllers have, but it has everything you need.
This is where the good things end as the setup and software bundled with this controller is rather glitchy with Win 7, 8.1 and 10 PCs Often times the audio output hardware on your machine will need to be disabled and reset from the device manager just to have the controller feed it though to the Virtual DJ software. The same issue happens in Flow and Mixx the two alternative solutions I used with this controller, The Virtual DJ software requires manual tweaking to the skins to get it to show up properly in 1080p. The jog wheels have a good grip on them but they are not motorized and have a loose feel to them.
It is hard to recommend this item with my not so good experience with this controller, but as a learning tool and a first kit it serves its purpose, just don't expect amazing things from it.
It does come with Virtual DJ 7 limited edition, I recently upgraded to Virtual DJ 8. Virtual DJ 7 limited edition was okay, I just like having the preferences and being able to select outputs. (Ex. Built in output instead of VMS2 output)
Internal sound card is great also. Just go straight out of the XLR or RCA outputs (XLR is recommended) and you will be fine! I use the XLR outputs and it has more than enough output.
Overall: This controller is a great midi controller to for starting out with, it does limit you with control on the number of effects you can do but if you're starting out it is great!

So far I love this unit. Has enough buttons but not too many. A little heavy due to all metal construction. But, that's a good thing. Well-built. Mic sounds good. Read morePublished 4 months ago by Harry
One of the cue buttons stopped working after a few months. The manufacturer (American Audio) repaired it for free, including paying for shipping both ways. Read morePublished 10 months ago by Matthew G.
Decent midi controller/mixer. It does the job, just wish there were more headroom, I barely move the slider and it's bleeding into the red.Published 11 months ago by R. pegram
Sturdy metal, and heavy enough that I feel like I won't break it. I actually bought it as a gift for an upcoming DJ, but her DJ friend who has been doing it for a long time said... Read morePublished 12 months ago by Joseph
