Dezember 2023I had purchased this book for someone who used the 2nd edition during law school. There have been a lot of legal decisions that have been made between the 2nd and 3rd editions. Rather than rely on the media or your know-it-all acquaintance, this text is where you should go to find the facts.

Bewertet in den USA am27. September 2009i'm embarrassed to let you know how little i paid for this used on amazon. i thoroughly have read 3 parts and i've skimmed through much of the rest. the book is relatively comprehensive. given that a couple hundred million pages or so have been written on constitutional issues and the law, it takes genius to summarize it into a digestible tool such as this. written ages ago, it's not up to date - and, there have been numerous points made in the past 15 years that must be included for anyone wishing to conduct a comprehensive history of the law. for misers like me who get their most recent readings of law from the internet and hundreds of other books and journals, this is a great, solid basis. A+. it is highly recommended for anybody other than law students who will need an updated version.

Bewertet in den USA am30. Juni 2022As others have noted, this is only volume 1, published in 2000. The preface indicates that vol. 1 is intended to cover federalism, separation of powers and other structural matters; and that volume 2 was planned to cover individual rights. On May 20, 2005, Scotusblog reported on Lawrence Tribe's April 29, 2005 open letter to readers that he did not then intend to complete volume 2. I ordered volume 1 in June 2022 to see how Tribe's descriptions evolved from the second edition in 1987 to the third edition in 2000. As such, this volume is interesting and valuable for a very specific comparison of two significant points in time. However, it does not cover the individual rights material from the second edition. Accordingly, this would have considerable limitations as a comprehensive reference, including for law students.

Bewertet in den USA am27. Mai 2014This is a great treatise. Tribe will likely be the most impressive and talented writer you read as a law student, and definitely so when it comes to treatises. The one glaring setback for students selecting this as their treatise to supplement Sullivan and Feldman or other Conlaw texts is that it is so incredibly old. To take Commerce Clause for instance, you will need to look to Chemerinsky for Morrison, Rauch, and other post 2000 cases. Nonetheless, relying on Tribe for the older cases will still prepare you better than your colleagues reading from Chemerinsky or other supplements. Tribe is simply unparalleled in his analysis. Additionally, his sections on constitutional interpretation are crucial for giving you a solid foundation, there is no comparable section in Chemerinsky. So, the solution; get both Chemerinsky and Tribe and use Chemerinsky to fill in the gaps that Tribe leaves.
The reason I sought Tribe's treatise was because EVERYONE in my class had Chemerinsky. And although Tribe is difficult to read and denser than any other treatise out there, he will give you a holistic understanding of Con Law crucial to the separation you need to get the A. Indeed, I received an A.

Bewertet in den USA am6. Januar 2017This is Volume 1 of a series but Volume 2 has never been published and I haven't found the previous Volume 2 available. Be aware if you order this, it will refer to a volume that doesn't exist.
