If you've seen books on homes of artists, the homes may be innovative and interesting, but they don't look too comfortable. You may feel like you're living in a museum.
Ah, but fashion designers really understand the possibilities of fabric and how it can be used for maximum comfort and drama--maybe even more than interior designers, so fashion designers' homes are one-of-a-kind and full of fascinating and textured fabric, like the homes in this book. What I loved about the book is the rooms didn't slavishly copy a "look" such as mid-century modern, or Hollywood Regency. The designers just combined furniture and fabric they loved and came up with something so personal and so chic that by studying the rooms, you come away with ideas for your home. Like Kate Spade's home. Or Tory Burch's, or Max Azria's, or Oscar La Renta's and Carolina Herrera's New York City home. Over 100 designers were featured. However, not all of them were you able to see inside the home. That was my only disappointment with the book. There were enough homes in which you COULD see the interiors to make it worthwhile. I just wanted to keep studying the photos because the rooms were so fresh and unusual. None of the rooms looked alike.Read more ›
