Top reviews from the United States

"US Weekly" is an excellent magazine when they're not wasting space on "The Hills" and all that fake drama (and no-name "celebs"). It gives the reader a look into the lives of stars. That's basically what people want from it, a guilty pleasure...escapism. What's so-and-so been up to this week while I had a crap week at my job(?)

Of course people love to see celebs go down in flames, hence the # of covers devoted to Britney (or Anna Nicole, Lohan, etc...) during her "breakdown." There's plenty of that here. It's not my thing, but it must be somebody's!

Judging by the most recent reviews, people didn't like the Sarah Palin cover. I didn't much like all the attention she got either. It was a waste. But I immediately re-upped my subscription for a year after that story ran. I also just bought 5 gift subscriptions for friends. (Mags make great gifts...you get something new every week!)

At less than half the price of "People" ("People" is a better mag, but it sells for $116/year..."US" is $52/year), how can you go wrong? You can even get a deal on it now and then through Amazon. Just keep checking.

Love my "US!"

I love this "gossipy" tabloid magazine! It makes a nice break from serious reading. The subscription price is much, much better than single issue prices at the grocery stores.

DOWNSIDE: delivered by USPS and have missed 3 or 4 issues. Impossible to get any resolution on mail w/o a tracking number.

I love gossip magazines and Us Weekly is the BEST! I couldn't afford to purchase the full year subscription, nor could I afford to purchase this every week, so the 6 month subscription was the perfect option for me. With all the stresses of a full time job and being a full time graduate student, it is great to open this magazine and live vicariously through the lives of the stars.
There are a lot of choices out there for entertainment magazines, but Us Weekly seems to have the best exclusives and scoops directly from the stars. I trust that what I read on their pages is true to their best knowledge and not purely made up fictional stories that I commonly see while waiting in the grocery store checkout. The stories are great conversation starters because everyone loves good gossip. My favorite time to read is while working out on the elliptical. It takes my mind away from all the pain.

This is one of the few magazines, outside of the fashion magazines, that I enjoy. There are a few issues that I wouldn't purchase if I saw it in the store, but with the cheap subscription price, I don't mind spending a dollar on them.

I find it really hard to believe that I can't purchase a 6 month subscription as a gift without an automatic renewal.

I don't want to spend $70 on my gift. Who does that?
I don't want to be sucked into a setup that automatically drains my credit card until I realize that a subscription I am not going to receive is still arriving. Who does that?
I don't want the extra burden of remembering to cancel this in 6 months. Nobody does that (which is why the companies structure their sales this way).

Why can't these people get a clue and allow a customer with good money to purchase what they want.
It is a shame that a good magazine is getting a bad rating because of their sales structure.

Everyone else has probably said what they like about this magazine in detail, so I won't go on & on about how it shows celebrities doing what I do, or wish I could do, or hope nobody catches me doing, and is my secret travel addiction. What I will point out, that might be somewhat helpful, is that the additional cost of this magazine vs. others is worth it. The photos are higher-quality, the paper is higher-quality, meaning that you won't see white spots showing through the photos. So if you think you might have a collector's edition royal wedding mag (hmmm, does this happen?) you might - because the quality of the photos will be, or will seem, just as high as the People's magazine editions.

That's one thing that seems to separate US from the others. The photo quality.

I called twice to cancel this booka and they said it was but then I am still getting the book and I want to be credited my money back to my account. please do not send me any more book or I will have to send them back to you at your expense. I am getiing people magazine as a gift from my sister so I don't need to have both magazines so please make sure it is cancelled an I don't receive any more books. If I see one I want to read , I will just buy it at the grocery store. Thank you.

Geez, I can't believe I actually just wrote those words. But seriously, it's a gossip magazine. Read Time Magazine if you want something literary. Or US News & World Report. If you want gossip - and after a long day, really, is there anything better than a gossip magazine (other than a glass of wine, a hug from your family, and GOSSIP magazines) this is the magazine for you. I'm not sure how many years I've subscribed to it. And, even if I remembered I probably wouldn't admit it. This magazine clearly has the best sources - and that's something that's always nice to see in a magazine. And the pictures? You can't beat the pictures US is able to score.
