Cadet 3 Flushing System
In the most recent independent MaP (Maximum Performance) tests, the Cadet 3 Flushing System received the highest possible rating, handling 1,000 grams of solid waste in a single flush. This means you can count on your Cadet 3 toilet for dependable one-flush performance.

Cadet 3's smart gravity design delivers higher performance with fewer clogs. Engineered for a stronger, more reliable flush, the Cadet 3 Flushing System means you don't have to flush twice, yet each flush uses 20 percent less water than standard low-consumption 1.6-gallons-per-flush toilets, saving you water and money.

Extra-Wide Three-Inch Flush Valve
Cadet 3 toilets feature a large, chemical-resistant flush valve that allows more water to enter the bowl more quickly, creating a cleaner flush. It won't warp or distort like ordinary flappers, and the three-inch opening allows water to flow into the bowl over 80 percent faster than a standard two-inch flush valve.

2-1/8-Inch Siphon Trapway
With a larger diameter than the industry standard, Cadet 3 toilets have a fully glazed siphon trapway. This trapway features no choke points and a two-inch ball pass to help prevent clogging, which means it can move a 60 percent larger mass than a standard two-inch trapway.

EverClean Surface
Treated inside and out, Cadet 3 tanks and bowls feature a permanent EverClean surface. This system incorporates a patented silver-ion additive right into the material to protect it from mold, mildew, algae, and fungus that could cause deterioration or staining. You'll love how the mirror-like EverClean surface is easy to keep clean and stays cleaner longer, even after years of use.

Five-Year Worry-Free Warranty
The Cadet 3 FloWise Elongated Two-Piece Toilet is backed by a five-year warranty that covers everything inside and out.

We've had it for a couple weeks. No clogs, easy to install. We had one "less-complete" flush in that time with faint traces of suspended residue left in the bowl. Given the water we're saving, that is a non-issue for me. It seems a little louder than our 1.6 gpf Cadet 3, but overall we're very happy.

We have the "bone" color. I was concerned it would be too brown, but it really just looks like a subtle off-white shade to me.

Our flange bolts are 13.5 inches from the wall, so there is about 2" of space behind the tank. Unfortunately, that's wasted space in our small bathroom. I had tried a 14" rough-in 1.6 gpf Cadet 3 (#2383.014.020), but that did not fit against the wall.

I did some initial testing with the tank lid off. The tank holds close to 2 gallons of water, so not all of that water is used during a normal 1.28-gallon flush. I think the extra height of water is just there to provide extra head pressure when you flush. Here's the secret: If you feel you've presented a particular challenge to your toilet, you can hold the flush lever down for a couple seconds, and it will use ALL of the water in the tank for a flush that should handle ANY challenge. So far I haven't felt like I needed to use that option, but it's like having one of those fancy "dual-flush" toilets!

July 2012 update. After 6 months of use, I'm still VERY happy with this toilet. An unnamed family managed to clog it once with a mountain of toilet paper. Incomplete flushes are very rare.

I purchased a Champion and a Cadet toilet for my last house and was very happy with them. They have a larger than normal outlet and don't get stopped up. That's why I bought two more Cadet 3's for this house. I think the last one was a Cadet 2. I've had nothing but trouble with these two from the first day. I guess it's called "ghost flushing". They seem to have a leak of some type because you can hear the water filling at random times multiple times every day. This is not one toilet, it's both of them. I figured they used inferior flappers and we replace them both 3 or 4 times and it doesn't help. Had a plumber check them out and he can't find any problem either. It just makes me wonder how much water we're going through. Another minor but annoying issue is the toilet seat on one can't be straightened. Like maybe the whole in one was made off kilter?
OK, this got me going and I just called American Standard and spoke with Ashley. She was extremely helpful and is sending two more complete in tank mechanisms to see if that solves the problem. She also said it'd possible the hole for the seat bolt was drilled crooked and was willing to send a new toilet. I said not at this point but thanks. Let's hope the new insides do the job. Looks like customer service at American Standard is great.

I'm amazed that a high efficiency toilet can be so effective. I've had two of these for about a week, so I can't really know for sure how well they'll perform long term, but they flush amazingly well.

They're fairly quiet flushers, flush almost instantly, and don't seem to have any trouble with anything I've fed them so far.

They're also quite easy to install.

My only possible complaint is that the seat that comes with it is not very comfortable and is just cheap plastic. I'm not docking a star, though, because I imagine that's pretty standard. The seats on my old toilets weren't any better. I'll be buying new seats soon.

I bought thie to replace a tiolet that never flushed well. I found out it was recalled. This unit does flush each time. I was sent a bowel that needed a tank with a four inch gasket. The tank sent had a three inch gasket so it leaked very well on every flush. Back to Home Depot to find a fix. Used a four in gasket arround the three inch. No leak. Could call American Standard and have them send out a fix, but I needed the toilet.
Too little water in the bowel after eah flush. This means you have to clean the bowel too often. So if you have a toilet that works keep it. Too many new ones just don't work well.

The toilet was pretty easy to install and works quite well with very little water. The only downside I see is the handle is a little pointed, which I don't find to be too comfortable and you have to hold the handle down for just and extra second for it to flush. Not really long, just an extra moment, but something to get used to.

We've had this toilet for 9 months, and it's so aggravating that I'M GOING TO TAKE IT OUT & BUY A DIFFERENT ONE! The main problem... it doesn't flush everything out sufficiently. Specifically, "residue" is left behind on the sides of the bowl after flushing in about 50-75% of the cases, which is disgusting! So either you have to flush twice (& sometimes take the toilet brush to it) or, when the next person lifts the lid, they get an unwelcomed surprise of dirty brown water or worse! This seems to be because the water doesn't swirl around enough to wash the bowl, rather it just goes straight down. Another irritating thing is that a simple quick push of the flush handle doesn't work - you need to hold the handle down for a full 3 seconds, otherwise you get a half-flush, then have to do it again (so much for conserving water!) Life's just too short to put up with 20 years of annoyance from a toilet that doesn't do it's job properly, especially when it's brand new! And I checked all the consumer reviews before buying, & this one was at the top of the list - go figure. Only good thing I can say is its a quiet flush.

You are correct. This toilet is one of the best performing flushers available. Is the water level in the tank correct? You might want to check the rim holes in the bowl to see if they are all free flowing with water when the toilet is flushed
