American Standard H2Option Siphonic Round Two-Piece Toilet
American Standard’s H2Option siphonic dual-flush round-front toilet—available in white, bone, and linen colors—helps you conserve water and save money with every flush without compromising on design or style.
Save water without sacrificing performance with American Standard’s H2Option toilet, featuring patent-pending siphonic action technology that uses less water, eliminates more bulk, and is quiet. Controlled by a dual-flush actuator on the top of the tank, the H2Option system features a 1-gallon-per-flush “light” flush for liquids and a 1.6 gpf “heavy” flush for solids. The dual flush allows the H2Option to use an average of 25 percent less water than a conventional 1.6 gpf single-flush toilet. Additionally, H2Options’s powerful siphonic action technology led to it receiving the highest MaP (Maximum Performance) rating, handling 1,000 grams of solid waste in a single “heavy” flush while the “light” flush received an impressive 400 gram rating. This means you can count on your H2Option toilet for dependable one-flush performance.PowerWash Rim
H2Option toilets feature a pressurized rim. Water is fed into the rim chamber from the tank, trapping air inside and thus pressurizing the chamber. The pressurized water is discharged from a series of specially configured rim holes to completely scour and power-wash the bowl.Jet-Powered Siphon
In addition to water entering the bowl through the rim, water is also dispersed directly into the bowl through a bowl jet. With the jetted siphonic bowl of the H2Option system, the siphon is initiated with the push of the jet while the pull from the siphon evacuates the contents of the bowl. The siphon-jet action also allows the water level to be maintained throughout the entire flush, allowing for a cleaner bowl and flush.Speed Connect
American Standard’s Speed Connect system on H2Options toilets is a user-friendly system that cuts installation time by 30 percent. It consists of pre-assembled and factory-installed bolts and grommets, which eliminates loose parts and reduces connection time.EverClean Surface
Treated inside and out, the toilet features a permanent EverClean antimicrobial surface that inhibits the growth of stain and odor causing bacteria, mold, and mildew on the surface. You'll love how the mirror-like EverClean surface is easy to keep clean and stays cleaner longer, even after years of use. What's in the Box
One American Standard H2Option dual-flush round-front toilet and two color-matched bolt caps (seat not included). Please note that this item ships in two boxes. One box contains the bowl and the other box contains the tank. The boxes may arrive separately as a result.

I purchased 3 of the dual flush toilets "American Standard 2889.216.020 H2Option Siphonic Dual Flush Round Front Two-Piece Toilet, White" about a month ago to replace my old ones and to save on water.
I also bought 3 of these toilet seats "American Standard 5330.010.020 Champion Slow Close Round Front Toilet Seat with Cover, White" for the above toilets. I didn't want to buy a different brand as I thought it makes sense to stick to the same brand for the entire toilet.
I am splitting my review into two parts: one for the toilet seat and the other for the toilet itself.
Toilet seat: 1 star (quality/manufacturing issue, poor/rude customer service)
Toilet seats: The toilet seats fit well. Slow close works well.
While installing the seat both my plumber and I noticed that all 3 of the seats have a fine joint at the 7 'o clock position. This joint runs on top and bottom. It looks like this is where the toilet seat was "stuck together". None of the previous toilet seats (even cheaper ones) had this visible joint. You may not notice it unless you look at an angle and closely. I am now unsure if the seat will crack at this joint. It most likely looks like a manufacturing defect. It looks like a quality issue to me.
I called Amazon customer service. They were awesome and sent me replacement seats; I was ready to remove the old ones and ship them back as part of the replacement. Before that I looked at the new seats carefully and guess what, I see the exact same joint/crack on all of them!? To me this kind of quality is not acceptable for a $38 toilet seat. Will this break in the future at this joint/crack?
I was thinking if I should return all of these seats and get a different brand seat. However I thought I should call and check with American Standard customer service in case they are aware of this issue on some lots. I took photos (I have attached them here, you can see for yourself) and was hoping to email it to them. I thought they will be happy to look at them for their own internal quality checks.
I called them today and wow, I was literally blown away - I have never encountered such RUDE customer service.
I explained to the agent about this joint. Without even listening to me fully, he says, you must have broken the seats so it is your problem. Uh??? I have no idea what it is, he just started off very rude.
I told him that I got replacement seats and I see the same issue there, I even took photos and can email it to them in case they want to look at it. In the same rude tone, he tells me there is no need for the photos and if I see it in the new seats then that's how they are made. He again started accusing me that I must have broken them.
Toilet tank & bowl: 1 star (incomplete/poor instructions, poor/rude customer service)
Toilet works as expected; Small flush and Large flush do a good job most of the times. Definitely quieter flush than my previous ones.
Large flush sometimes leaves a little debris in the bowl. Once in a while needs to be followed by a small flush. This is despite all those nice videos on the product page that show the emptying power of the toilet.
Installation: Quality control is not there. Some of the parts were missing. (bolts, caps) were missing in one of the bowls and tank. The fill valve & flush valve & another "float valve" are supposed to be pre-assembled in the tank. I am calling it a float valve as I have no idea what it is really called. It is supposed to be pre-attached. But it was left separately/loose in two of the tank boxes. There are no instructions on how to attach it. More over there are some numbers/adjustment settings on it and again there is no explanation whatsoever on what they mean. (I have attached two photos of this valve). There is one diagram in the installation booklet (step 10) but you can't tell much from it. I looked at one of the tanks and figured out how to attach this "float valve". It was fitted on top of the overflow drain pipe. However I was not sure about the adjustments to be made (blue settings in the photo).
I told customer service that this part was loose and how do I adjust it now that I know where to attach it. First customer service lady (technical support) rudely told me to get a plumber and they will adjust it and hung up; she was in a hurry and didn't even bother to offer any other advice. I called back and talked to the second customer service rep (same one who talked to me about the seat above). His response was that it is set at factory and I shouldn't mess with it. I told him that since this part is loose inside the box how do I even know if it adjusted. I also wanted to know if it is set properly to reduce water level. He didn't really care and told me there are no instructions on it and should be fine the way it is. I was being patient the whole time and didn't yell at him as I know they are doing their job and maybe having a bad day. I did question him about their customer friendliness. No answer. I asked to talk to his supervisor and surprisingly, the supervisor is not available.
Overall I am extremely disappointed with the seat. I am ok with the toilet performance but disappointed with lack of proper instructions. I am shocked by the customer service attitude and professionalism.
American Standard: If you are listening - there is something seriously wrong with your customer service attitude & quality control. Maybe you only cater to big box vendors?
That said, the defective fill valve cost me hours of hassle and extra work, and the missing glaze would absolutely be an issue for bathrooms where the left side of the toilet was more visible. Finally, Amazon's service recovery for this unit was unacceptable in my opinion. Ultimately they only credited me $11.77 for my purchase of a replacement fill valve, but made no other effort to rectify the situation. Pretty unsatisfying purchase, both with the defective components on the American Standard side, and also on the Amazon customer service side. Based on my experiences, I'd recommend purchasing locally. While the toilet is a nice one - if it works - the high failure rate and suspect Amazon service recovery will make me purchase elsewhere / from other manufacturers in the the future. Good luck with your purchase decision and Happy New Year!
They're performing wonderfully. There's not the problem I used to have where I'd have to flush twice to clear the bowl. Also, I know I'm saving a lot of water.
The toilets are pretty quiet and easy to use. I'm not worried about waking my neighbor when I flush like I used to with my other low-flow toilet. There's also no problem with water kicking back like I've heard with other toilets either. I've been using them for a little over a month and love them!
UPDATE: It's now been 3 years and I've never had to plunge any of my toilets. They still work wonderfully. Water doesn't fly out when you flush because it's works almost like a vacuum pulling the water instead of having water push through. This actually has 3 modes of flush. Push the two buttons together for a 0.9 gal flush, the left button for a 1 gal flush and the right button for a 1.6 gal flush (like a regular toilet.) My sister loves them so much she wants to get them for her home too.
