The precedents set by the Lincoln administration and its military minions are still with us to this very day, and this book brings the horror of military and political despotism vividly to the mind of anyone who can face the absolute truth of what happened back then by turning its pages. If you are looking for liberal historical revisionist lies and candy coated apologies for what Sherman, Sheridan, Beast Butler, Hunter, and all the rest of Lincoln's professional terrorists did to the South you will not find it here! This should be required reading for every High School history class in America, and especially so for the SOUTH BASHING POLITICIANS! I cannot recommend it highly enough!
pillage and plunder the South. Homes were put to the torch, the women, children and elderly were completely burned out and their food, clothing, horses and all animals were taken. I cannot believe such despicable atrocities against other Americans - especially women and children. These yankee occupiers were of the same low caliber as the modern ISIS terrorists.
My ancestors fought for Louisiana and to protect their farm and lives. And, hell no, We never owned slaves. The majority did not. Go to the 1860 census and look It up. The History of Yankee heroics is not that shiny to folks that had to live it.
