I like the size, easy to read. And great to have instructions printed on the lid. But I am trying to weigh less than 1 gram of material. Keep adding to the pile, expecting 0 to go through 0.1.. 0.2 .. etc. But it stays at zero. If I put a larger amount on, it will weigh that amount, but I cannot add or remove to fine-tune my quantity.
Conclusion, seems to work like my bathroom scale, it just holds an initial weight. But I need an additive scale to measure out an accurate amount.
Supposedly if I buy a calibration weight, it would fix this issue. They claimed the scale comes pre-calibrated. A calibration weight costs almost as much as the scale. It shouldn't be required to spend almost as much as the scale itself to make it work properly. Include a calibration weight or properly calibrate these at the factory.
This issue should be beside the point considering the weight seems to vary each time I weigh something. Even with it properly calibrated, it would still end up with random weight amounts.
Another surprising feature this thing has is that it'll hold 2 extra AAA batteries on top of the already needed 2 AAA batteries to operate the device. More of our electronics and other devices need simple things like this built into the design.
This product is exactly what I was looking for! It is a compact device ( about the size of a iPhone 7 plus with a otter box) and folds up nice and neat. It is very accurate and simple to use and easy to clean. I reccomend if you purchase this to take a US penny and place it on the device and make sure it comes up as 2.5 grams to make sure it is calibrated correctly. The only issue I had with this device is that I placed more than 1 gram of material at one time and it bugged the device, if this happens just take the material off and reboot the device. For the price you cannot beat it.

I tested these side by side and found no difference. A 500g known weight is required to calibrate. I tested the two of them with weights from 1g to 100g. The 1g weight registered perfectly on both in the centre of the weighing platform, but had some variation when the weight was moved to the outer edges - a +/- variation of 0.1g was observed on both scales.
In normal use, I found a couple of quirks to be aware of - when weighing small quantities (in my case essential oils in amounts between 1 and 10g) it can take a few seconds for the scale to settle down - often it will not register a few drops added to the amount being weighed for 2-3 seconds. So it pays to pause, especially when you are close to your target weight. The second thing that it did was unexpectedly turn itself off when I was in process of slowly weighing several oils totalling 10g - taring as I went, so I lost the combined weight when it switched off. Not sure why it did that, but I'd recommend writing down interim weights before taring if you are using it in that fashion.
Overall a good balance for the price; beats paying 10x what this costs for a lab-quality one if you don't need it.
The documentation, in excellent English, says you need a 500 gram calibration weight should you need/want to calibrate the device.
There is a 10 year limited warranty slip included for what it's worth, but I just find it reassuring that the company have some faith in their product.
I've tested the precision of the scale with several known weights and found it quite good for the price range (weights always precise till 0.1g wic is the smallest unit diplayed on the screen).
Scale dish dimension 7.5cmx6.3cm is large enough for must uses (remender is a pocket scale) and maximum weigth capacity of 600g should be enough.
On the negative side, i found that the protective cover sometimes can affect the weighting if you just let it open because it may bounce a little bit (i just let it rest againf the wall or other support, so it's an easy fix).
-precision 0.1g as publicized
-protective cover bounces a little
I use it to weigh salt, pepper and spices for making up precise recipes.
These scales continually frustrate me with their wild readings. Better that a coarse scale, but only just
I guess you get what you pay for, I gave these scales to a friend and bought a Tanita 1579 which is by far better than this
Folds up neatly and is easily transported in jacket pocket. So far batteries have lasted OK.
