Looks Slick too, Tiny bit bigger than iphone
Only con: lid doesn't close tightly and will be easy to lose. Needed for protection because things will get stuck in the cracks.
Even with the con, it's definitely worth it. Otherwise, I'd recommend the one with the lid attached, but I thought it looked so much worse than this one to justify buying this scale. Still do.
12/13/14: I replaced this scale with this one, American Weigh 100g x 0.01g Digital Scale, which has the same basic "specs" but a slightly different form factor, with the weighing platform to the left of the keypad, and it's a little larger. I've owned other scales of this type that have worked well, but didn't have the .01g accuracy. Anyway, this one works great. Calibrates within its published accuracy (ie, a 100g calibration weight reads within 99.08-100.02), and weights are consistent and repeatable. Too small a sample perhaps to generalize about this slightly larger format being less trouble-prone. Perhaps I just got a bad one, but if ultra-portability is not a major priority (and it's only a couple inches bigger), I would go with the slightly-larger AWS-100-BLK.
I also have the up-to-50kg scale from the same company, and the measurement of the base unit (gram) is off by +/-2 grams. So I assume any scale you buy from this company will not be accurate at the least significant digit, which will be off by a unit measurement of 2.
They also have the older model of this small scale that is about two dollars cheaper from the same company (American Weigh). I chose this model instead because I thought that the flip-cover on the other model might get in the way. This model has a clear cover that you can take off completely, but it doesn't snap onto the back so there's no way to store it once it's off. The cover is also not held on by any mechanism, so if you're carrying it with you, you'll need to keep the box or just tape the cover to the scale itself so that it doesn't slip off in your pocket.
It's about the size of an iPhone 5, if that gives you some context. It'll easily fit in your pocket like a cell phone.Read more ›
