Product Description

America's Sweethearts ~ America's Sweethearts

Amazon.com

As co-penned and produced by Billy Crystal, America's Sweethearts is a good-natured backstage romantic fable with few barbed takes on contemporary Hollywood--if as much substance as a Tinseltown pitch meeting. With that in mind, this collection makes perfect sense, culling together a collection of lightweight contemporary pop so homogenous one wonders if it was pasteurized, to boot. When it's left to laconic fret whiz Mark Knopfler ("Gravy Train") to kick out the album's jams, we're talkin' some serious serenity here. Kelly Levesque's upbeat "Some Hearts" tries to set the tone, but proceedings then largely fall into predictable, paint-by-numbers pop (Clara's Star's "Walk with Me"; Invertigo's "Chances Are"; Anika Moe's "Falling in Love Again" and a predictable remix of the Corr's "All the Love in the World"), leavened by unexpected surprises like ex-Spice Geri Halliwell's sprightly take on the hoary "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps." Veteran James Newton Howard's orchestral score gets its due (and obvious marketing priority) with the album's final cut, a suite of solidly comic romantic cues. --Jerry McCulley

For those looking for more music from "Clara's Star" look under the name Seven and the Sun. I'm not sure why the name change but it's the same group :)

wow!, the corrs did it again, with their song in this soundtrack, and they rock!! this song (all the love in the world) is also featured in their cd, In blue, but it's different from the version in here, because this is a remix.. well, the rest of the cd is actually very good, so the whole soundtrack is woth your money!!

Nice packaged cd. I don't usually buy soundtracks to movies. After watching the movie and sitting through the credits, I decided to buy it. Kelly Levesque-I wish she had something else to purchase, pleasant song. The Corrs-I know I've heard The Corrs before but clearly not enough to make me buy one of their cds. I really enjoy this song and their album is, now, on my "to get" list. I also liked Bekka Bramlett's track. The rest of the album is enjoyable. I was surprised by Geri Halliwell's song "Perhaps, Perhaps, Perhaps", I adore it..short but fun.

There are only four tracks on the CD that are actually from the movie. Where's "White Rabbit" ? Where's "Witchy Woman" ? How can this be called a soundtrack from the movie? Very disappointing music selection after seeing and enjoying the actual movie.

I found this in a bargain bin so didn't think twice. Pleasantly surprised to discover there's not a bad song on this. Varied but a pleasant vibe throughout. As someone who still likes making mixtapes for friends, it aint easy. Kudos to album producers susan arnold and donna roth, wherever you are.

The truth is, I was only interested in the album for one reason THE CORRS. I have their In Blue album and thought All the Love in the World was exceptionally good and to my surprise I found out it was a remixed version in the soundtrack. I am accostumed to hearing the remixes of their songs but when I heard it I thought "not bad,not bad at all" I think both versions are really good. By the way I also liked Clara's Star... and I'm quite surprised to see Geri Halliwel's name... She's like my favorite spice and the most successful solo spice act. I'm not into romantic things but this album is one great Buy!!!

This is a great soundtrack to a great movie. I can't tell you how suprised I was to read Geri Halliwell's name across an American-released album! Geri Halliwell is known all over the rest of the world for being great at what she does (hense her recent #1 slot on the WORLD pop music charts), and it makes this soundtrack even more perfect that such a fun song by the Goddess herself graces it's #4 slot. Bravo to Sony!
