You’ve seen the pretty postcards and the shiny tourist brochures. Now, Amish Confidential takes readers beyond the buggies, bonnets, and beards—into the hidden heart of back-roads Amish country. The all-night field parties. The prohibited automobiles. The nosy neighbors and prissy tattletales. It’s all here: the many “English temptations.” The stitch-and-bitch quilting bees. The sex, alcohol, and illicit Wi-Fi. And the random acts of kindness and remarkable forgiveness, too.
Interest in the Amish has never been greater. The tourist counts keep breaking new records. Amish Mafia is back for a fourth blockbuster season on TV, joined now by several spinoff shows. Amish Confidential taps right into America’s fresh fascination with the throwback Amish. Stoltzfus weaves his never-before-told personal story through some high-profile Amish episodes that rocked the news in recent years, including the Nickel Mines shooting massacre, the Amish sisters’ farm-stand kidnapping, and the Amish-Pagan drug gang. As America’s most famous Amish tough guy makes clear on every page, there is nothing plain or simple about the plain-and-simple life.

ELLIS HENICAN is a New York Times bestselling author, a Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper columnist and a popular TV news pundit. He is also the voice of Stormy on the hit Cartoon Network series Sealab 2021.
His latest book, Let Me Finish: Trump, the Kushners, Bannon, New Jersey, and the Power of In-Your-Face Politics (Hachette Books), is written with Chris Christie, who served as Governor of New Jersey and was also a candidate for president in 2016. The book is a no-holds barred look at politics from a Trump campaign insider and friend.
Ellis is a born storyteller. His How to Catch a Russian Spy, written with American double-agent Naveed Jamali (Scribner), was called “the funniest book I read” by Washington Post critic Carlos Lozada and is being made into a feature film by director Marc Webb (500 Days of Summer, The Amazing Spider Man) for Twentieth Century Fox.
Recently, Ellis also wrote Trumpitude (Post Hill Press), a comic look at being Donald Trump, and The Uninvited with Craig Schmell (Post Hill Press), the true story of a young impostor with a talent for crashing celebrity events who discovers what's really important in life.
Ellis wrote the ground-breaking Vigilance with longtime New York City police commissioner Ray Kelly (Hachette Books) and Worth Dying For with Navy SEAL commander Rorke Denver (Howard Books), a follow-up to their special-ops bestseller Damn Few (Hyperion). Making It in America, with furniture titan John Bassett III (Center Street), tells how U.S. companies in the Trump era can survive foreign competition and keep American jobs at home. Bassett, who refused to close his factory in Virginia, is the focus of an upcoming HBO miniseries being developed by Tom Hanks’s Playtone Productions.
Ellis’s other books include the bestsellers Home Team with New Orleans Saints coach Sean Payton (New American Library), In the Blink of an Eye with NASCAR legend Michael Waltrip (Hyperion, optioned for film by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions), DOC with troubled baseball pitcher Dwight Gooden (New Harvest), The Party’s Over with former Florida Governor Charlie Crist (Dutton) and Amish Confidential with Lebanon Levi Stoltzfus (Gallery Books), star of the Discovery Channel hit series Amish Mafia.
Ellis’s book, Tuesday’s Promise (Hachette Books), tells the story of former Army captain Luis Carlos Montalván. A Purple Heart Iraq War veteran, Montalván battled crippling PTSD before connecting with his Golden Retriever service dog. In this profoundly honest book Ellis and Luis talk about loss, friendship, war and the loving bonds – all before reaching a tragic and heartbreaking end.
For 20 years, Ellis wrote a three-day-a-week column in New York’s Newsday, sharing his unique take on the news and leading the paper to a Pulitzer Prize for coverage of the Union Square train wreck. He also wrote a weekly column “Trump’s America” for Metro Newspapers. Ellis hosted a daily, afternoon-drive radio show on WOR/710 in New York and a weekend show for Bloomberg Radio. He spent 13 years as a contributor to the Fox News Channel and now appears frequently on CNN, MSNBC, FOX, i24 and other networks where he is known for his lively analysis of national politics. He is also an in-demand keynote speaker, panel moderator and event host.
A native of New Orleans, Ellis is a graduate of Jesuit High School, Hampshire College and the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism, where he won the top student prize, the Pulitzer Traveling Fellowship. He lives in New York City with his criminal-defense attorney wife, and he keeps finding excuses to return to his beloved New Orleans..

Again I recommend this book to all. You don't need to have access to any Amish area or people to read this book. I grew up just North of Lebanon and Lancaster so I had heard a lot of what of what was said in this book. It just confirmed my suspicions. Good work Levi! Never be afraid of telling the truth!
If you are looking for a book that tells more about the rest of the story behind the Amish Mafia and the characters on the show, this book will not be what you expected. Nothing is stated here about the Amish Mafia, it's a much wider view of the actual people of the Amish faith and their ways. Engrossing and well written, you'll learn much either way.

that the Amish are not aware that the original bible was written in Hebrew and comprised of the five books of Moses, the word of God. The New Testament was man written and some years after the crucifixtion, of Christ.
