TOP 500 REVIEWERon August 25, 2012
Loved this new book by Teresa Phillips as she provides a compilation of some of the best recipes for 2012. Sweetening the deal is a sampling from her book Boppli in a Basket: Kentucky Amish. The novel is well written most of the time and uses the Amish lifestyle as a back drop for the storyline. There were parts of this book sample that were confusing and left me wondering what was REALLY happening. Better editing makes a better book and in this case a bit of editing was needed. The cookbook portion of the book is fine.

Some of the recipes you will find in this cookbook include:

Beet Salad
Sunday Salad
Sweet Slaw
Buttercream Fudge
Peanut Butter Blitz
Turkey Cranberry Cobbler
Baked Mad and Cheese

There is an active table of contents making navigation easy.

I thought this would have cookie recipes, hence the picture, not, it is mostly salads. It also has the cobbler recipes in it so there is no need to by the cobbler book, but it being only 99 cents, no big deal to me. The stories are more a 2 or 3 star to me...I would say "sort of interesting".

This book has many recipes that I would like to try so I hope that can happen soon. In fact most of them sound great.

Didn't care for it. Not an author in my opinion. Recipes are same old Amish recipes. Seen one seen all. Story same old Amish story. Same song..second verse. Sorry..not worth it.

Sicily Yoder is a very accomplished author and always presents a good story. As a cook, I especially like her inclusion of the actual recipes for many of the dishes or baked goods that are mentioned within the context of the story. I underlies the authenticity of both the author and the portraits she paints of life among the Amish. For those who are not blessed by living near an Amish community where their food and bakery items are not readily available, it does provide the opportunity to partake of these wholesome and delicious offerings anytime.
