It's a Rockstar fairytale which means the suspension of disbelief worked overtime to keep my eyes from rolling out of my head. I like the fact that they did the reverse career changes so the Oscar-winning actress becomes a rock star unlike Jerad Leto, the rock star who won an Oscar. That almost didn't work for me but because the story focused on the romance it became secondary to the point where I did accept it..
In this book the subplot moves front and center, which made for a shift away from the Rockstar fairytale. I wish they would have kept that a bit more on the surface. There were a few things that happened off the page of the story, mentioned but never seen, that bothered me. Any details would create spoilers. Let's just say there are holes in the story that I don't believe can be filled moving forward.
I must admit there was a character shift that should have put me off the person but surprisingly gave me a sense of satisfaction rarely achieved in other stories.
I highly recommend this book.
I fell in love with this series from the very first chapter of Falling Down. Anne Mercier has an amazing ability that enables you to suspend reality and dive headfirst into a story without needing to come up for air. And really, I never wanted to come up for air. Each book proves just how talented this amazing lady is and why she will continue to be successful.
If you have not read any of Anne's books, I suggest you download Falling Down, like NOW, don't wait, just do it!
If you have read Falling Down and Blush, then you don't need me to tell you what an AMAZING book Amplify is! Can't wait for April!
The author smacks you in the face with the feels right from the beginning of this story and it just keeps going until the very end. Your heart absolutely breaks for Sera at the tragedy she has experienced in her short life. From the ashes rose a strong, independent, beautiful woman that loves her family deeply but closes her heat to those who are not part of that family. Sera believes she's happy until she meets Cage Nichols who understands her like no one else does. He is able to break down her titanium walls and allow her to really live again.
Cage is a Hollywood mogul by day, alpha bad*** by night, quite possibly even Batman. He has survived against all odds and is a better person for it. He loves Sera with all he has and goes above and beyond to make sure she doesn't suffer any tragedy again.
Enemies from the past try to destroy what Cage and Sera are building, exposing both vulnerability and strengths they have as a couple and as individuals. This is where we get to see kick*** Sera and alpha Cage. Who knew what Cage was hiding under that suit?
As Sera and Cage fight the enemy intent on destroying their lives, they are surrounded by the usual band of rowdy characters who are always entertaining and loyal to a fault. Readers may even get to find out where that black elevator goes???
Bring on Interlude.

This is where I fall in love with Sera. She is one badass lady!! And she has one seriously hot, badass man!
I love seeing all of Sera's fears and doubts that she has in herself and her love for Cage. And how he always, always reassured her.
The love they both have for each other is so big and full it just makes my heart soar.
I also loved seeing Sera dealing in the mafia side of things. Through all the books it's always stated how the women of La Famiglia aren't to be involved in any of that side of the business but I feel like we really needed to see this because it shows how serious that side of the family is and how they get things done.
This book is one damn hot fine book!
LOVING the combination of Mafia and Rockstar romance.
I love Anne Mercier style she brings her characters to life so well and even though it was Sera and Cage's story the rest of BFD are featured just as much and I love that.
This is a brilliant Rock Star genre series with a whole lot of Mafia and sex appeal you couldn't wish for more than that..!!
We get to see them finally give into what they feel.
Some people should just learn to move on and get over themselves.
I always knew Sera was badass but we get to see just how much in this one. Don't mess with her family and you will be just fine.
It was nice to read about Sera and Cage
Looking forward to the other books.
Absolutely loved this book!! Having said that, I absolutely loved the previous two also.
But this book...... What can I say, except keep the tissues handy for certain chapters.
