Perhaps the most notorius How To manual on the market. This is the most asked for book that we know of. Is it any good? Well, it's now in its 29th printing since 1971, has chapters on home preparation of weapons, electronics, drugs, and explosives. Extensively illustrated.

I'm reading through other reviews right now and I'm not sure why people say this version is abridged. The only thing I can think of is that they're thinking of the version by 'the jolly roger' that was posted on BBS years back which had info related to phreaking and other outdated hacking methods. Those articles by TJR are dated to around '94 though, To me the book sold is a page for page scanned copy of the original with updated copyright info. Someone let me know if I'm wrong though.
In doing more research and finding first edition first print books on abebooks dot com (8k dollars!?) I've noticed that they list page count as 160, same as this version listed for sale. I've come to the conclusion, after reading certain reviews, that people just aren't happy there's no meth recipe and decide to return the book. I would expect a recipe like that to be detailed somewhere online when searching if it had been included in the first place. Oh well I guess. Just goes to show that meth really does melt your brain. I've seen a documentary about the stuff hosted on YouTube that pretty much details the entire shake and bake method but for some people they'd rather order a book that's tragically dangerous and written by a 19 year old kid. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I'm not sure what's meant by 'politically corrected version of the anarchist's cookbook' but I doubt the formulas for explosives is very PC. They're still in there though.
As for the construction of the hard cover, it's a normal modern day book. The pages feel like any other book's pages. The ink was well laid down and doesn't suffer from smudging or blurriness. Some pages aren't entirely aligned though. The spine binding looks like impregnated glue to me.
Somewhere over the years I lost my copy and had totally forgotten about it.
But at a recent gun show I saw copies for sale and being at the age where I am starting to get nostalgic for what I consider a "better time" (meaning the 70s and 80s), I picked up a copy to recapture some lost youth I suppose.
Oh my... how 30 years can change ones perception.
This book is interesting to read for its historical snapshot of late 60's drug induced hippy era idealism and anti-establishment rebellion, but otherwise THIS IS PRETTY DARNED FUNNY !!!!
As a degreed Chemist myself, I will say that maybe 30% of the formulas will actually work IF (and I stress IF) you don't kill yourself first because of the inherent dangers and lack of safety instructions. The other 70% of the formulas are pretty much rubbish.
As for the drawings and schematics for booby trap devices they are less detailed and about as useful as the pictures you see Wiley Coyote reading on a Road Runner cartoon.
Finally the forward by Peter Bergmann is so off the mark and now proven wrong by history that it dates the book horribly -- but as I said earlier also makes it a fun "snapshot of late 60s- early 70s" mentality among the youth culture.
It's a cute little relic and piece of "dark literature" from a simpler more innocent time in America --- but for those of you truly seeking to form your own world order, overthrow the government and let Anarchy run wild, you may want to look elsewhere for your motivation and education.

I think it is VERY important to note that the original author of the Anarchist Cookbook has reportedly discredited this book publically and expressed his wishes that the book no longer be printed.
His reasons being that he wrote it when he was only a teenager and was expressing outrage and anger at the Vietnam War in the best way he knew how at that young age with so much pain and violence around him.
As with all of us who think we knew everything when we were 17 or 18 years old ------- WISDOM COMES WITH AGE AND EXPERIENCE. Mr. Powell has indicated he no longer supports the ideas expressed in this book and wishes it would dissapear so that hopefully no impressionable minds are influenced by it.
I respect him for that position.

The book is a little bit disappointing frankly. Anyone with even a middle school level education of electricity/circuits could have designed the devices in this book, the reputation this book has a some treasure trove of guerilla weapons is ridiculous. Every explosive design can be reduced to 'place an incomplete circuit in something flammable, trigger completes the circuit'.
There is nothing in this book that the average adult doesn't already know, or couldn't figure out in a few hours. Honestly, this book seems to exist just as an anarchist or libertarian icon, with little to no actual useful information in it.
I imagine the two types of people buying this are either people buying it for the sake of having it, or people trying to be edgy.
2. This printed version is basically just a bunch of scanned pages put together, with the reference drawings out of page sequence. One page in it you can clear see what appears to be highlighter marks scanned in grey tones.
3. The book itself is outdated. The language in the writing is very much for its time. The content is so basic that you can find more informative things by doing a basic web search in any browser.
Do not buy this, it has no value, there is no reason for the hype behind this book for the last 20 years.
