Carolyn's stories have appeared in God Allows U-turns Series, Cup of Comfort Series, MomSense magazine, Guideposts magazine, and other publications. Her mission; however, is protecting children from childhood sexual abuse. When she was four, a hired field-hand attempted to molest her. Miraculously, she got away and told her father. Everything. She has spent the past twelve years championing this issue and has received training certificates from some of the leading organizations dedicated to protecting children. A national MOPS speaker, mother, and former teacher, her life has been enriched through child advocacy, adoption, and foster care. She and her husband, Ken, call Pennsylvania home.

The prevalence of child sexual abuse is difficult to determine since it often goes unreported, but it's been estimated that 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 20 boys are sexually abused at sometime during their childhood. While many people understand that awareness is an integral part of preventing sexual abuse, it's also a difficult subject for many parents and caregivers to discuss with their children. "Ana’s Song" uses an excellent analogy and easy-to-understand instructions to teach children about where they shouldn't be touched and what they should do if someone tries to (or does) touch them inappropriately. Child sexual abuse is a very real threat to children today, and it's imperative that we use awareness as a means of prevention. As a mom to small children, a preschool Sunday School teacher, and a former caregiver in the pediatric medical community, I highly recommend this book to parents and others who are looking for an age-appropriate way to discuss sexual abuse with the children they love and care for.
