Well I got it home and now I realize that my hand won't fit in it to clean it (I'm an average sized woman with fairly thin hands). If I'm diligent about rinsing it out I can probably get buy with a scrub brush, but if anything ever dries in there so that it requires elbow grease, I'm sunk.
I most frequently use mine to serve tea. I pour boiling water over teabags in a glass teapot, then remove the teabags and sweeten the hot concentrate in the teapot before pouring over ice and enough water to finish making tea in this pitcher.
I have currently used one of these Glass Pitcher/Water Jugs several years. I had another of the same at least 15 years ago that after long service finally broke when it was dropped on a tile kitchen floor.
Yes, it drips a little when you pour as do most pitchers. The pitcher has a round opening without a spout so inclined to drip.
The jug gets condensation when you keep iced drinks sitting out to serve so keep it on an absorbent pad or countertop that water won't damage.
Compared to other glass pitchers that I own, this pitcher gets constant daily use where the others are only used to serve when company comes for dinner.
You can use a little bleach in the wash water to clean tea stains from glass
simply soak in soapy water, then add white vinegar to the jug and swirl around then rinse thoroughly and you will have a sparkling clean glass container.
With a little care, Glass pitchers and this Water Jug can last a long time.
-heat resistant (can handle near-boiling temp. water fine while brewing)
-beautiful and thick.
-the design of the opening makes it hard to pour without splashing when it's nearly full, though after practice you learn to do it with minimum/no mess.
-the lid is not completely sealed. It'll be fine if you just reverse it once/twice, but won't take rigorous shaking.
-lack of a handle (though this is a very minor one, since you can hold it by its neck fairly safely, and even if the content is hot, the pitcher is too thick to burn your hand).
The previous pitcher I got from amazon for that purpose, the italian one with the plastic lid was fine but cracked after ~10 uses due to hot water.
So far I had no issues adding near-boiling level water to the pitcher, or any other issues. Overall a pretty decent pitcher I'd recommend.

I bought this at a yard sale a week ago. I love the neck hourglass shape of the neck as this makes me feel I get a better grip. It is pretty, but very functional. Read morePublished 2 months ago by quiltstoomuch
