These are dishwasher and microwave safe. I'm unlikely to put them in the microwave but I've run them through the dishwasher a few times and they're looking good. The labels for the measurement gradations are still clear. (I have some other Anchor Hocking glass measurement cups in various sizes and after years and years, they're also still easy to read.)
This has markings for fluid ounces, teaspoons, and milliliters. (Don't try to measure solids/dry weight with the "ounces" lines, use a kitchen scale for that. That is utterly dependent upon the density of the solids and you could be way off. Only use that, and mL, for fluids. However, measuring sugar or something for a recipe with tablspoons or teaspoons would be fine, and this is especially convenient if you are sizing up a particular recipe -- 9 tablespoons is easy to measure here, but you could lose count if you do them one at a time.)
We have been using these for various purposes. They're convenient for adding different ingredients (sweetener, vinegar, soy sauce) all together for making a stir fry sauce. They're also good for measuring honey to make a fruit syrup for pancakes (spray the thing with cooking spray first to make liquids like honey or molasses flow out more easily). They're easy to clean. Mine did arrive with stickers on the bottom that I had to remove before washing the first time, but that was not too difficult.
The only thing I don't know, and that's because I'm unwilling to risk breaking one to do a test, is how well these can handle hot and cold liquids. They're not Pyrex so I would err on the side of not pouring boiling water into them, but rather increasing the temperature gradually. If you need to measure some boiling water, you could put it in here cold or at room temperature and then put it in the microwave.
They're useful all around, but that's my primary use for them. My big tumbler won't fit under the Keurig, and I hate wasting cups.
I bought a few more for home too. They hold up well to moderate temperature fluctuations, though I rinse it in warm water after having hot coffee in it. It's tempered glass, but there are still limits to what should be done there.
I also bought more to use as stocking stuffers for the adults this year.
I broke my original glass by dropping it from a high height (totally my fault) and missed it shortly afterwards. I bought these two glasses. They are just like the one I had before. I love them.
