I don't know whether it was the tough road that Casey and Blake went through in Bait and Sail that made me really appreciate Anchor so much, but I just loved it. I shed a few happy tears throughout the book and notably when Casey proposed, when they read his mothers letter that she left for him and their wedding vows to each other.
I can't fault one word in this book, it warmed my heart and I was sad when I was approaching the end because I knew my time with these soul mates who radiate love for each other was coming to a close.
The first 2 books in the series were angsty but this one was different (even though I did find myself holding my breath fearful of another obstacle that would ruin their happiness). It was just Betty and Lou and had me feeling warm and fuzzy with every page I read. I felt their love for each other and their need to be by each other's side 24/7. It was a prefect conclusion to this wonderful series.
And now I now why it's called the Wake series - well done Ms Mabie, so well done!!
EPIC! To say anything less would be criminal.......I just had done a re-read of Bait and Sail and all of a sudden Anchor is released! How lucky am I?
Casey is the best book boyfriend ever and his Honeybee is just the best! I felt like I actually knew these two people and fell in love with them myself!
I cried because I was thrilled that things were finally working out for them just the way they needed them to. Without any spoilers, I can only say that the whole proposal, the bachelor and bachelorette parties, WOW!! The best ever!
You have to read this book-if you have not read Bait and Sail, these books are an absolute must!
I'm just sorry that this story is over. I hope that the author finds it in her heart and her soul to continue Casey and Blake's story.......a few years from now when they have 5 kids and Casey is going crazy!!!
ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS!!!
Blake is finally in the arms of the man she loves and everything is the way it was always meant to be but the only probably is Casey hasn't asked her to marry him and she's afraid he has changed his mind.
Casey is wholeheartedly on board with making Blake his wife but he vows that she will heal physically and mentally from Grant's attack on her before they decide to make their vows.
This book was everything you want in a "Happily Ever After" and then some. While the evil Grant tries to rain on their parade a time or two the love these two share finally overcomes everything :)
It is my belief that this is a story about growth. Growth of a person. Growth of a couple. Growth of family. We see our leading hopefuls stumble and fall but throughout the series they got back up and became even better. Blake was a girl who never really envisioned much into the future with Grant but with Casey we see future turn into present. Casey endured heartache and experiences loss but those hardships only help build him into a better man. We see Blake’s family embrace their daughter’s mistakes and the one she is meant to be with because they can see the difference in this love and their daughter. M. Mabie got a few tears out of me, just saying.
Dominant men usually aren’t my favorite book boyfriends (with some exception in that broad statement). There is a quote in Anchor that really stuck out to me in the writing and because it kind of touched on why I don’t always enjoy reading the dominant alphas.
"That’s the thing about dominance. If they’re worthy of it, they don’t take it. They wait for you to blissfully hand it over."
For me, this is said (or written) perfectly. In NO WAY or shape am I a prude and I enjoy a steamy scene in the bedroom where dominance is involved in my books (and outside my books :) ). However, I don’t enjoy reading the men who expect and think they deserve this control when they haven’t done anything to deserve it yet. So for me, this quote is another reason why Casey is so perfect and why I love him. It envelops who he is as a character.
Anchor is our conclusion and I don’t think Mabie could have planned and executed it any better. She is a new author to me and definitely one that I will stick with wherever the Wake Journey takes me and on other future work of hers. Check out The Wake Series today!
