About the Author
Laurene is a freelance writer, leader of a volunteer game development team, and homeschooling mother. She lives in Oregon with her husband and four children. She studies ancient, medieval, and pioneer cooking methods for fun and enjoys sharing the knowledge she has learned with others. She attended the University of Idaho where she studied Political Science, Creative Writing and Foreign Languages. She is a self-taught artist, photographer and game developer. She learned her cooking skills from her mother and her grandmothers the old fashioned way, as well as from studying books and online resources. Laurene has attended writer's workshops conducted by Bryan Davis and Jeff Gerke, as well as studied several books on writing to improve her skill. She won the 2011 NaNoWriMo challenge working on her first novel and plans to enter the 2012 NaNoWriMo challenge again. She has had articles published in Unveiled Purpose, and in The Old Schoolhouse magazines. She is the owner of Heaven's Blessings Tiny Zoo, a game development company staffed entirely by volunteers making fun family friendly games for Christ. Her company released a racing game titled Chariots in 2008, a card game titled Messiah in 2009, a board game titled Treasures in Heaven in 2010, an Elvish Language application in 2011, and the first stage Alpha test release of Visions (a Christian MMORPG) in July 2012. The company website can be found at http://tinyzoo.com for more information about these titles. Laurene's cookbook “Ancient Roman Eats” is sponsored by the Visions game development team.
