We tow a 2006 26-foot Forest River Wildcat camper with a 2010 Ford F-150 SuperCrew, 5.4l, 6-speed auto. The camper is 6,630 lbs. empty, and when the whole rig is loaded, it almost hits the towing limit of the truck, so this is not just a small SUV towing a cart with hay bales on it, like you may see in the youtube video. The camper is high-profile and is affected heavily by wind. We took it on a 9-state, 4,000-mile trip last year in a lot of wind, and I spent almost the whole trip with white knuckles, trying to keep the rig on the road. It drove like a hog on ice and about beat me to death. I had to slow way down several times so the sway wouldn't put us in the ditch. This year, I researched hard and long to find a good anti-sway device. I couldn't find anything decent that was compatible with the weight-distribution hitch I was already using, so since I had to buy a new hitch anyway, I finally decided to go with the Andersen. There were not a lot of reviews on it since it was fairly new in the marketplace, but everything I could find stressed the lighter weight and ease of hookup, and those concerns are more important to me the older I get. It took 11 days to arrive, but the shipping was free. Installation was easier than my old hitch. You do need a 5/16" Allen wrench, by the way. I drilled a hole to secure each outside setscrew for the brackets and cranked the setscrews as hard as I could, but couldn't get three full revolutions (as the instructions say) before my Allen wrench got twisted into a corkscrew. But I continuously check all the setscrews and they haven't loosened yet, and the brackets haven't budged. We took the camper on a 1,400-mile trip last month and were very pleased with the results, though I had thrown my old hitch in the back of the pickup in case of emergencies.Read more ›

I purchased this weight distribution hitch to tow a 22' travel trailer with a Toyota FJ Cruiser. The FJ has a short wheel base and a 5000lb towing limit. I wanted to save as much weight as possible and this hitch setup is considerable lighter than any other weight distribution hitch that I could find, plus it has the sway control built into it. This product is awesome! - It keeps the trailer like it was locked to the back of the FJ. It makes no noise, going forward or in reverse. I had to go through an area with about 30 mph crosswinds and it was stable the whole way. You could feel the winds buffeting both the trailer and the FJ, but it kept its line and the trailer was in sync with the FJ.
The You Tube video is misleading about being able to turn the ball by hand. The ball is pressed into the hitch very tightly. You cannot turn it by hand or be able to remove it. It is not going to get dirt into it around the brake material which appears to be some kind of plastic. When the trailer is hooked up, you can make pretty sharp turns with no problems, and it is silent. I was able to make a u-turn in a grocery store parking lot within the same row without a problem (the advantage of the short wheelbase).
The light weight of this hitch (under 60 lbs) and built in sway control is what made me try this product, but the performance is what makes it a keeper.

I bought the 3380 to install on my 2012 Jayco Octane 26Y (a little over 10K lbs when loaded)which I pull with my 2011 Ford F250 6.7 Powerstroke. I just returned from a weekend trip and the 3380 performed just like it said. Prior to install, traveling with cross winds was always "both hands on the wheel and a foot on the dash" but not anymore. I was able to drive with ease again. Installation was easy. No popping or griding during turns like we're used to with other applications. Definitely worth the price.

I used to have a Reese weight distributing hitch and sway bar assembly on a 21' travel trailer. Currently I have a 21' toyhauler that I carry a 1000 lb Polaris RZR in. I pull it with an f150 and have an Andersen Hitch on it. While I am towing different trailers (but similar) and using a different tow vehicle my current combination out performs the Reese in all areas. It is also clean, simple and quiet and does not require backing off the sway control for tight manuvers. When towing it performs just as well as a fifth wheel I used to have. I am sold on the Andersen. I think it is only natural that when people own a product they like to think it is the best. I think that is why so many that have not tried the Andersen brag on their brands. Andersen hitches are a new concept but as time goes on I think Andersen will dominate the market.

After having one of my sway bars fall off on the road(scary) and going back to retrive it I thought there has to be something better out there. I looked at the ad for this Anderson sway bar set up and thought it looked pretty nice. The ball hitch is extremely well made as is the whole system. I have a 66 Kenskill travel trailer and I tow with a Toyota Sequioia. This towing set up is great,it makes no noise at all and it feels to me like the front of the vehicle is being pushed down as you are driving. I'm very inpressed with this set up and would highly reccommend this towing set up. It worked well backing up too and is really easy to unhitch once you get the hang of it.
