If you have the standard rubber hoses that come with your washing machine they actually have a date printed on them when you should replace them by. That date is usually 5 years. This type of hose will last many times longer than the standard type and doesn't come with a suggested replacement date. Give yourself piece of mind and spend the extra cash gettin these. A friend of mine recently had a standard rubber hose break while the family was at work. They returned to a flooded house.
When you open the package and look/feel where the hose meets the connector you can appreciate the quality. These are many times better than your plain rubber hoses. The angled connector for the back of the washer means you don't have to bend it, just point in the direction you want the hose to go. There's not much more to say - you connect it, it works. I suspect it will last longer than the rubber ones it replaced.
Lastly, purchase the hoses from Ace. Though it would appear the price is a few cents higher if you add the shipping cost, that's only if you're buying just one. For the second one, the additional shipping is only about 70 cents more - not double the shipping amount shown. Since most people will be buying two at a time, the total cost from Ace is a few dollars less expensive than the other merchants.
One of the plastic fitting broke and started spraying water all over the laundry room. Luckily I was close by and heard the noise.
I couldn't get the valve off at the washing machine, these valves can be very tight in the open position. I ran outside and shut off the house water. In just 30 seconds or so, it made quite a mess. Imagine if we had not been home at the time....
I thought it would be prudent to get the strongest and best hoses I could. I feel much better about these ones than the factory ones.
