These connectors are amazing. I have standardized all of my amateur radio power to use these. With a good crimp tool, these make excellent contact an allow to to mix a variety of wire gauges in different combinations. You will need to get the 15 Amp or 45 Amp contacts to use with larger or smaller wires, but they work with the same housings you get here and are interchangeable when you want to plug them together. The color-coding allows you to snap them together in a consistent orientation so that you cannot reverse the polarity.

This kit was a great price compared to my shopping around. I've ordered them twice. The kit does not come with the pins to lock the connectors together, but I have not had a problem with the connectors sliding apart. If I did, I would just use a drop of super glue instead.

For one instance of using these, I wanted the connectors fairly permanently plugged together inside my car dash. I found that the holes for the pins can be used to put a small zip tie to hold them together.

I highly recommend this product and am pleased with the pricing.

If you need to connect and reconnect DC power cords, Anderson Powerpoles are the way to go.

If you think they're more expensive than they need to be, I agree, but they're worth the price in quality and convenience.

I like the fact that you can't plug them in incorrectly. That's a great safety feature.

One downside is that you have to develop some skill attaching them to your wire leads. Even with a good crimper, it's going to take some practice.

Other kinds of DC connectors sometimes don't make good contacts. That's not a problem with Anderson Powerpoles. They snap together and you're never in situation where you have to wiggle them for better contact.

Among the ham radio operators I know, there's no debate about the value of Anderson Powerpoles. It's just understood that they're the only way to go.

Anderson power poles is the only way to go for power connections for amateur radio equipment! This was my first experience with them and I am totally sold on them. Be sure you get a crimper that does Anderson Powerpole connectors or you will probably be disappointed. I used one of the "off-brand" crimpers that handles these at a fraction of the price for the Anderson name-brand crimpers and they work very well. I highly recommend these.

One must always worry that the materials used to construct a part are high quality, with small tolerances, good resistance to wear, etc.

So far, these connectors have proven to be so.

If you are not already a devotee of Anderson Powerpoles, you should perhaps do some additional reading on them. They are a mini-marvel of engineering and design.

Be sure to get a good crimper.

Anderson Powerpole connectors are the gold standard in quick disconnect for battery and similar applications. When it came time to replace the Tamiya connectors for First Tech Challenge (due to continual problems with power delivery through them) the PP's were our first answer and they were of course the right solution.
Don't mess with intermittents in power delivery any longer - replace your connectors with these and focus on other aspects of the system after that.

Please be aware that a "controlled cycle" crimper is highly recommended.

Please note that it is possible (but not mandatory nor even 'usual') to apply a tiny amount of solder after assembly at the very tip of the wire, where it can be seen peeking through the end of the crimped section - if you do this, you must be very careful not to change the overall shape of the connector (enlarge) prior to insertion into the plastic sleeve, as you will otherwise not be able to insert and seat the connector.

I bought these to hook up the subwoofer in my daughter's 4Runner. She wanted to be able to disconnect the system in case she needed remove the big box and make room for hauling. I didn't want her to unscrew the terminals and I was worried that she might reverse the polarity or ground the hot lead to the chassis. I was also concerned about her driving around with an exposed hot wire in the back. After much research, I bought and installed these. Now she can disconnect the sub-woofer in a snap without any tools and I don't worry about her shorting out the battery lead. Since she has a three-wire connection I ordered a blue housing to go with the red and black. There are many colors to choose from. Now she can remove and reconnect her sub-woofer herself without any tools and I don't need to worry and electrical shocks and shorts. See photo attached. These are like little Lego pieces. They are extremely precise and they join together to form a block of connectors. You can order roll pins to keep the blocks together, but nobody seems to need these. Don't be discouraged that at first it may seem hard to seat the wire into the plastic, it takes a little practice but once connected, it is a rock solid and reliable connection. You won't find a better solution and you won't want anything else. You don't need a male and female part; these are androgynous. Just flip one over and connect. They come in 15/30/45 amp variety and sustain up to 240V. The housing is the same for each amperage, the only difference is the connector. This package has 40 30 amp barrels, but you can buy individually too. There is an even greater variety from Powerwerx.
