This is an easy way to keep your clipper blades clean, and worth the small cost to protect your investment in clippers.

It's a jar full of liquid, so open the lid carefully. The wide lid screws on and off easily and doesn't spill when closed, even if accidentally knocked on one side. The smell is not as strong as the Oster Blade Wash, which smells more like industrial-strength solvent.

To use it, keep it handy while you're clipping. I always brush off most of the loose hair accumulated on the blades with a small brush before using this. Just open the lid and dip the blades into the liquid, leaving them running for a few seconds. Remember to dip the blades only, not the entire head of your clippers! You'll see the little bits of hair floating away. Pull out the blades, turn them off, and dry them with a towel. You don't want to get liquid inside your clippers, so keep the blade end down until you've dried them off.

I've had no problems with liquid trying to spatter out while cleaning blades. The bits of hair and debris will settle to the bottom of the jar. When it looks gross, just toss it and buy a new jar.

Keeping your blades clean will make your clippers and blades last longer, and they will run cooler due to lower friction. This is an inexpensive way to get more life from your clippers.

This is great blade wash! I'm a veterinary professional and we use it daily for our heavily used clipper blades at the office. I recently bought my own jar for use with my grooming blades at home. It keeps the blades clean and lubricated, making them last longer between professional maintenance care. I recommend pouring a small amount of the product into a disposable cup and running your blade in that container for a few seconds and then disposing of the small amount of product you used so you can use all of the product in the jar without contaminating it.

Blades should not be dunked in blade wash while on the clipper. This ruins the clipper armatures because the liquid easily migrates to the inside of the motor. Some people are careful and get away with it, and others ruin an armature on the first try. The cost to replace the armature on andis AG/C/2 clippers runs about $65 with labor. I repair clippers and do sharpening for a living, so I get to see what works and what doesn't. The resistance readings will be off when the armature is tested. A bad armature can cause an intermittent problem with the clipper that can be hard to diagnose at first. When I take the motor apart, it is easy to see and feel (and smell) the blade wash in the windings. Cleaning with electrical cleaner only helps on some of them at this point and it is better to replace the armature. I would suggest taking the blade off the clipper and dunking it and then scrubbing it with a brush, if you like this product.

Blade wash usually has a lot of oil in it. Oil is good for blades, but not on every surface, because hair sticks to it. Use the Andis cool care spray or alcohol to clean blades, but oil where the cutting teeth meet between the comb and cutter and also on the bar at the back of the cutter and comb, as well as where the plastic glide runs inside the channel of the cutter. The blades only touch in 3 places. Oil these places. Rust will cause damage to these mating surfaces and sometimes it goes so deep that it can not be ground out when the blades are sharpened.

I am very fussy about my clipper blades - they are too expensive to not take good care of them. After clipping, I use a blade brush on them and then run them through Oster Blade Wash and then through this disinfectant solution, followed by a tiny bit of clipper blade oil.

This product seems to lubricate very nicely and I like the disinfectant properties. This routine prolongs the life of my blades, keeps them hair free and clean. This product should be a must for anyone having to clip and trim pets.

The sprays are a joke when you read you aren't supposed to breathe them in. This Andis Blade Care Plus Disinfectant is a great product that provides a container where you can dip the clippers(Large horse clippers too) directly into the solution that does several things at once. You can put the lid on, store it and reuse. The hair settles to the bottom so once in awhile you can decant it and continue to use the solution. It cools, lubricates, and disinfects the blades in one shot. Never going back to sprays again. And don't have to poison yourself in the process either.

We finally broke down and bought a professional clipper for our dog. The cheap ones from Walmart only worked for a few months before they broke and we replaced it. The Andis clipper we bought works awesome but gets hot after a while. To combat this, as well keeping the clipper clean, sanitized and lubricated; this stuff is da bomb! Been using it for while now and had no problems. You just dunk the clipper in while its on, leave it in for a few seconds and them dry it off. Done!

I'm new to grooming my own animals, and found this product to be a little bit difficult to use. I will probably purchase one of the spray products on the market until I get comfortable enough with the process to dunk my clipper blades into liquid. It spilled a lot when I was using it, and seemed to make things a lot more oily than they needed to be.
