Includes UltraEdge Size 10 Blade
For a dependable, long-life blade, look no further than Andis UltraEdge blades. Exclusive hardening process keeps blades sharper for a longer time. Add a special chrome finish that inhibits corrosion and you have cutting solutions that will last for years.
Detachable blades offer ultimate grooming versatility
Detachable blade for ease of changing and cleaning. The Andis ProClip UltraEdge Super 2-Speed Detachable Blade Clipper works with all UltraEdge, CeramicEdge and ShowEdge blades - the largest selection in the industry. Also works with Oster A-5 blades (all sold separately).
Easily cuts thick coats
This heavy-duty clipper uses a superior rotating motor that is powerful enough for thick coats and provides consistent cutting for dogs such as poodles, terriers, spaniels and their breed mates. It stays cool, unlike the magnetic motor design. Forget about loud magnetic motor clippers that bother your animals.
How do I remove matted fur with a clipper?
Removing mats can be achieved by using the Andis ProClip UltraEdge Super 2-Speed Detachable Blade Clipper paired with a #10 blade. For a large to medium size dog with a lot of thick fur, you will need to invest in other blades. If you are planning to shave your dog, get a couple of #7FC blades, #64121.

Blades will get hotter on the 2nd/faster setting (they are rubbing back and forth very quickly--they are going to get hot people--no matter what--any blades that move fast enough to slip smoothly through a thick dog's coat will have the same problem). The trick is to have at least 2 sets of blades and cooling spray. Remember to oil your blades and while grooming use the cooling spray--when they get too warm switch them out for the other blade and keep rotating. It's worth the money-it'll save you a lot of time and your dog some grief. Also--clean hair is MUCH easier for clippers to go through. Extra dirt and oils in the hair will slow you down a lot and make the clippers heat up much faster--so bath your dog (scrub down to the skin on those thick coated breeds) and then blow him/her dry or at least let thoroughly air dry. T-h-o-r-o-u-g-h-l-y dry.
Hope this helps!
She's got a very thick double-coat and I was able to use this without a problem at all. No issues of the blades heating or cutting through her coat.
Low noise, and she wasn't bothered by it at all. Every time I took her to the groomer, she would freak out as soon as we got close to the door. I felt so bad stressing her out, so I figured I'd give it a shot on my own. Let's just say I need a bit more practice, but the fact at how well the blades worked and how calm she was, makes the purchase totally worth it.
For the amount you pay on the clippers you should at the very least get the attachments so that you can cut different lengths but unfortunately Andis doesn't see on the same line as I do, that is truly the only flaw in the product.
They do get a little hot, but all you have to do is just spray the cooling spray as everyone else is saying on here and you can continue in a minute or two. Surprisingly, the clippers got much hotter while I was cutting the Schnauzer than when I was cutting the Pyrenees, I think though it had to do much more with the temperature outside while I was cutting them. It was midday when I cut the Schnauzer and the sun had gone down when I started on the Pyrenees.
Overall I would recommend the clippers, you just have to get used to them and definitely get the cooling spray. Also, I would get another attachment blade size, it comes with a size 10, from everything I have read the better one to get would be to get the 7FC.
That's sayin' a lot people... Both the Aussie and I have baby-fine hair. This thing cuts both smoothly, and quietly.
After the first few cuts, I told my wife to cut my own hair with it (new blades from another manufacturer didn't work too well) and things worked PEFECT.
I'm sold. I'm an Andis customer for a LONG time.
