I really love this CD. I can remember my mom & dad humming and singing some of these tunes and at the time I thought "My , what strange music mom grew up with...LOL" . And now here I am listening and enjoying them myself.!!! I only wish my mom and dad where still alive so I could tell them what Great Music they liked...........Bob

The Andrew Sisters are the best singers I have ever heard. My friends think I'm weird because I listen to "old music" instead of the "new age music", but I don't care. This is the best CD I have ever listened to. It's Terrific!!!

Hearing The Andrew Sisters always takes one back to long summer days and lemonade stands, Abbott and Costello making moviegoers laugh, and WWII. Their music was everywhere during the 1940's, and with good reason. They were terrific. Whether entertaining American G.I.'s or helping Bing with some background vocals, they always brought a needed smile with their wonderful harmonies and upbeat demeanor. "Rum and Coca-Cola" and "I'll Be With You In Apple Blossom Time" became anthems for a decade which saw both joy and heartbreak, and the greatest generation ever produced saving the world from evil at a tremendous cost.

Their vocal harmonies always seemed effortless even though it only came about after hours of practice and a lot of hard work. While quite a few compilations of their music are available, most have a good smattering of songs which represent them well. Except for one 40 song collection, most are pretty much like this one. But fans don't get this nice cover shot on those releases, and maybe that's what makes this one special. They once jokingly told Bob Hope if they'd been prettier they would have been chosen for his many WWII tours. Such was not the case, of course, as evidenced by this lovely CD.

There will never be another girl group like the Andrew Sisters. It was a different and, to many people, better time. These songs will make you nostalgic but will also make you feel good. A nice mixture of uptempo tunes and harmonious ballads are on this disc. The Andrew Sisters always seem to be having a good time entertaining us, giving us a wink as they sing their hearts out. This is a great collection to own or, perhaps especially to give as a gift. Patty, LaVerne and Maxene are still entertaining us 70 years later, and maybe if you close your eyes, you can dream....

Be forewarned, The Andrews Sisters: Greatest Hits, The 60th Anniversary Collection, does not have six of the songs listed on the Amazon product listings, including "Rumours Are Flying," with Les Paul playing in the background.

This album, featuring songs from the 1930's and 1940's, sounds just as fresh and alive today as it did when the Andrews Sisters were recording. The song, "Beat Me Daddy, Eight To The Bar", according to the liner notes, was the first vocal recording of boogie woogie. Previous boogie woogie artists used instrumental methods only. MCA did a superb job of preserving these highly influential recordings for the modern listener--a must have album.
