Installed in a 2008 Chevy Silverado 2500HD. Good fit with the exception of way too many cables coming out of the back end of the radio causing a very tight fit. Expect some time working the cable bundles and canbus around the dash pieces to get the deck to slide in completely (the WIFI antenna is an issue without modifying some plastic inside the dash)
It was a plug and play application for my truck and everything worked. My confusion came over some small items, but without any instructions for wiring had me scratching my head
The instructions for install are on the light side, especially if you have never installed a new radio (and backup camera) before. It is basically a wiring diagram labeled with the tags that are on each cable, but no explanation of what each wire is for.
An an example Wire 31 is labeled "CAMERA B+", and Wire 32 is labeled "REVERSE". The Wire Diagram expands #31 to say "CAMERA B+ Camera ACC" so this is the backup camera power, and #32 is "REVERSE, Reversing Control Cable", however the reverse control (for my truck at least) is built into the factory harness. All I had to do was supply power to the camera and I did not have to hook anything up to the backup lights, so I am not sure what wire #32 is for, unless is
With the backup function coming through the harness, I didn't know why the stereo cam with a speaker. Turns out the door chime and light audible alarm are not routed through your door speakers any longer, but are through the small speaker that comes with the stereo.
Pros and Cons
1. The device connects quickly to my Samsung Galaxy S8, and automatically allows simple commands for the music player and Audible app (play, pause, forward, rewind) without having to mirror the phone display
2. Navigation system works well, and quickly loads. The chime for speeding is a bit annoying (but that is my own fault) and it only happens the first time you enter into a new speed zone to let you know
3. The Video for the backup camera is clear and better quality than the stereo in my other vehicle
4. Price price price. Great price for what it has and how well it installed. We will see what the next 6 months to 1 year bring with quality.
Cons
1. The Andriod Mirror display from the phone. After downloading the EasyCon app to my phone, turning on my phone's wifi hotspot, and connecting the the stereo, I get an error message that the "Current WiFi signal strength is too low, USB Connection is Advised". Both my phone and the stereo show a high signal strength (in other menus), if I continue I get a very low res display that is illegible. The Stereo will not allow me to connect via USB even following the steps listed on the display. I have verified that it is connected at both the phone and the radio and my phone is set for tethering through USB, but the radio will not recognize the UBS connection through the EasyCon App
2. Clock. I have no idea what the problem is with the clock, but after manually setting the clock (and making sure that the automatic updating is off) the radio looses one hour every few days. I have tried letting it automatically update, and have disabled the auto update, but it always ends up one hour early after driving for 2-3 days. I cant figure this out.
