Editorial Reviews

From the Author

The origins of ANGAKOK date back to 1989.  In those days, books with LGBT protagonists were hard to find outside of "specialty" or small presses.  I began wondering why.  Why couldn't we have a metaphysical story with LGBT characters?  Nowadays, things are different, of course, but the journey Dane undergoes is as potent as ever.

I am not always a fan of this genre, but I genuinely enjoyed this book! Well written, intriguing story with real, relatable characters. Found myself rooting for some characters only to discover later they were not always who they seemed to be. I get bored with trite, predictable stories but this one kept me interested from start to finish with several unexpected twists along the way.

Let's start with the cover art ......Absolutely brilliant, clever actually. When I started reading this Victoria has a memory and it's captured beautifully by the cover.

Dane and Victoria were in a car accident, both died but both never stayed dead......

Dane doesn't really remember much of that night but he struggles to sleep and when he does he's haunted by nightmares. He's not the same man as betrothed accident, he's become moody and snappy and is quick to get angry .....

Victoria, on the other hand, can remember everything about that fateful night and more ....Victoria is out for revenge and unknown to Dane he shares a history with Victoria, on that will see him in the fight of his life to protect the ones he loves.

Then there's Mrs Jeremy, a foul mouth that could make any sailor blush and a taste for camel cigarettes, what a character. She's convinced that Dane ha some paranormal side effect from the accident and she's not far off and she makes the connection between Dane and Victoria.....

Angakok was eerily different and while reading, I couldn't help but hum the tune from that Denzil Washington movie " Fallen"......Time is on my side.......

So while I loved the authors pretense of this story and the characters I have to be honest and say there were just so many weird and confusing parts in this book too.

Dane and Victoria die when they are hit by a drunk driver but they do not stay dead and what happened to Dane might destroy his relationship with Jake.

There were a lot of paranormal aspects in this book which I loved and on the edge of your seat moments where you hold your breath hoping for the best for these characters too. But there was also parts that were just so confusing and I really had a hard time figuring out what was going on.

You get action and suspense in this book, you will also get mystery too while Dane and friends try to figure out who or what is behind everything that is going on. I am just so on the fence right now on how I feel about this book.

So I will leave this review with I liked this book but I sadly just did not love it due to the confusing and weird parts I am still trying to figure out...

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.
