Having said all of that, I didn't love these. They may have been some of his earlier works and the characters, weren't as developed (and likable) as they usually are. Had I read these first, I may have liked them better, but having read all of his other books before these, they fall flat for me.
I give Angel Evolution three stars. I liked it. Probably will read the other two eventually.
There is some implied sexual content in this one, and violence.
This was good, fun and interesting but I had a major issue with the main character Taylor. She is the essence of a weak female character that needs a man to be complete. I hate those characters and I expected someone stronger from Estes, since he usually has strong female leads.
I will be finishing the series though because I do like the book.
That being said.... I LOVED that the demons were the "good guys" & once I did get sucked into the story I adored it especially the gargoyles. I hope they get a bigger part in the upcoming books in the series. Also I love Chris !!! He's such a doll and Taylor cracks me up. The characters are great and easy to relate to. Minus the few things I mentioned previously. I love that Taylor is such a wholesome girl and Sam has a great head on her shoulders and is very bright despite being a popular cheerleader, proving she's more than just a stereotype. Over all another great read David never let's me down :) and I'm excited to get my hands on book 2 in this series ! Happy reading!
I haven't read too much Angel/Demon literature yet, and I'm just starting to get into it. Angel Evolution blew me away! There's a completely new take on the relationship between angels and demons in this series, and I've gotta admit that it threw me for a loop. Who would have thought that the angels were the bad guys?! :O
Taylor is a decent female protagonist, and her inner arguments with herself about falling in love are quite realistic. Estes definitely captured the essence of college freshmen in this book, and I loved all of the characters. I don't think a single one of them irritated me, which is quite the accomplishment.
My favorite of all-time has got to be Gabriel though. I am irrevocably obsessed with that sexy angel man. *Swoon* Even knowing he was on the side of the angels didn't have me turning away from him. And his love for Taylor is so self-sacrificing that it makes me want to cry.
And the ending!!! Oh. My. Gosh. How heart-breaking and suspenseful!! I couldn't even wait five minutes before I started squealing out loud and darted to Amazon.com to buy the next one! I got slightly angry at the author for leaving me with a cliff hanger, but it's only the really good authors that can do that to me. So, way to go, David! You made me mad! :D Success!
I'm starting on the next one as soon as I eat my lunch, so on to Demon Evolution!! Gosh, I wonder what's gonna happen??
Quick little summary:
Taylor is a laid back non-attention seeker heading to her first semester of college. And while at college her world changes. She meets a gorgeous boy who comes in and sweeps her off her feet. Gabriel, who happens to be an angel and rather quickly becomes her boyfriend. Gabriel tells her about his heritage but everything he tells her are lies. That the angels want to protect the humans from the demons and that they need her help.
She not only falls for him but him for her. And even though she really cares for him deep down she senses something is off. All the lies Gabriel tells soon catch up with him and he doesn't know how to get out of the jam they are in.
There is way more to this story then what I have written and I highly recommend you give it chance.
Over all this was a very unique story and im glad I gave it a chance, now on to book 2!
