About the Author

Gerry McCullough has been writing poems and stories since childhood. Brought up in north Belfast, she graduated in English and Philosophy from Queen's University, Belfast, then went on to gain an MA in English. She lives just outside Belfast, in Northern Ireland, has four grown up children and is married to author, media producer and broadcaster, Raymond McCullough, with whom she co-edited the Irish magazine, 'Bread', (published by Kingdom Come Trust), from 1990-96. In 1995 they published a non-fiction book called, 'Ireland – now the good news!' Over the past few years Gerry has had around sixty short stories published in UK, Irish and American magazines, anthologies and annuals – as well as broadcast on BBC Radio Ulster. Her poems and articles have been published in several Northern Ireland and UK magazines, and she has also done readings from her novels, poems and short stories at several Irish literary events. She writes a regular literary blog – Gerry's Books – and guest writes for several other literary blogs. Gerry won the Cúirt International Literary Award for 2005 (Galway); was shortlisted for the 2008 Brian Moore Award (Belfast); shortlisted for the 2009 Cúirt Award; and commended in the 2009 Seán O'Faolain Short Story Competition, (Cork). Gerry currently has three full-length Irish thriller/romance novels available, plus a short story collection:- Belfast Girls - November 2010 (Night Publishing, UK/2012 Precious Oil) Danger, Danger - October 2011 (Precious Oil Publications) Angel in Flight: an Angel Murphy thriller - June 2012 (Precious Oil) The Seanachie: Tales of Old Seamus - January 2012 (Precious Oil) (previously published in an Irish weekly magazine) The Cúirt Award-winning story, 'Primroses,' and the Seán O'Faolain commended story, 'Giving Up,' have been extended and re-written as part of a series of eight more serious Irish short stories – to be published later in 2012. Also in the pipeline are, 'Lady Molly and the Snapper' – a young adult novel set in Dublin; and 'Not the End of the World' – a humorous, futuristic, adult fantasy novel – both coming soon from Precious Oil.

Gerry McCullough has been a favorite author of mine since I first read "Belfast Girls" then "Danger Danger"

Angel in Flight does not disappoint...in fact I'd go as far as saying this is my personal favorite. A thriller that packs a real punch.

Don't read this work if Romance is all you are looking for. This goes way beyond the surface thrills of boy meets girl.

Angel Murphy has. through necessity (A turbulent marriage) learned self protection skills...as the book progresses she will need them and then some.

In Greece on a holiday to regroup after her marriage ends, Angel finds herself caught up in far more than the stunning scenery...although author Gerry Mccullough has that marvelous gift of taking you to Greece and with few words you are indeed dining and experiencing the Greek Islands...but and it's a big BUT this is not a travelogue.

The tale is so seamlessly crafted that genre is unimportant. The pacing of the nightmare world that Angel Murphy finds herself flung into is as close to perfect as it gets...the underlying threat of a big pharmaceutical company being prepared to do whatever it takes to keep a vaccine that may prevent the horrors of Malaria under wraps. Money speaks their language...humanity can go to hell.

But Angel is not easily daunted.

She ...ah wait.. that would spoil the book for you, and it's far too good to have that happen.

So...do yourself a favor...get yourself a copy, settle down and...I dare you to put it down. I couldn't.

This is the start of a series, and this reviewer is eager for the next thriller from the multi-talented Gerry McCullough. Bravo!

Angel Murphy is on holiday in Greece recuperating emotionally from her abusive marriage.

She gets into a car mistaken for a taxi and is drawn into a web of intrigue and murder all centred on a CD containing data concerning a vaccine.

Ms McCullough's evocative prose, realistic characterisation and brilliant dialogue make this a thriller which grips you from first page to last as you want to find out what happens to Angel.

If you enjoyed Belfast Girls you will adore Angel MUrphy; a feisty heroine with panache and style yet all too aware of her own vulnerabilities.

I can't recommend this highly enough and wish Amazon would allow more stars.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters and it was a story that kept me reading because I didn't want to put it down. There were lots of twists and turns and it certainly kept me guessing until the final pages. Angle is quite a feisty heroine and I definitely look forward to reading more of her adventures.

Angel Murphy is an Irish lass I hope we see a lot more of in future novels with her in the lead. She is definitely not a woman to trifle with, and is my
candidate for what I hope will be a new thriller series featuring her. I'm looking forward to reading more about her.

I couldnot find this authors book - Angel in Flight so I am misusing this cover.
A brilliant author whom uses the themes of old and new argitecture to compliment old and new traditions which in turn spins off on a new start for our main protagonist while her past has not left her.

This is an author I will be keeping an eye on.
She entertained me, thrilled me and kept me glued to the page.

I hope to read Belfast girls soon.

This is a tricky one to rate. While the dialogue is rich and appealing, and the plot is a decent mystery, I couldn't reconcile myself to the writing style. The short bursts of sentences, and the pages littered with full stops, like a paper target after being randomly hit by a Gatling Gun, made the reading way too stilted and awkward. I think the author was trying to build suspense, but it just didn't work. If I actually read it out loud how it was written, I would sound like I'd just ran a marathon and swam the channel, one after the other. This is also true of the use of constant new paragraphs. This works brilliantly for dramatic suspense on some occasions (see Stephen King) but the repeated use is tiresome and unnecessary.

There were also other formatting quirks that I found really hard to get my head around. It's such a shame as this would have been a really good book with characters you could really invest in and a plot you could really get your teeth into.

If you can cope with the style, you will probably really enjoy this book.

" Bond, Jane Bond . . . " Angel Murphy is a sassy bigger then life heroine in an action packed adventure thriller in Greece. The fast, quick draw writing style pulls you immediately into the story. In the middle of danger and intrigue that revolves around her abusive ex-husband Mickey, she grows tired of his violence and upon discovering he has murdered someone, ends the marriage and heads to Greece for rest and relaxation. Mickey follows her and the action builds around a CD, a cure for malaria that a big pharmaceutical company is attempting to prevent being developed, in the game of money money. She intervenes in a bar fight, kicking the knife out of a brawler's hand, saves a drowning child and finds herself slipping through the hands of violence, in beautiful scenes of the Mediterranean, a fiction-filled action foray for a sunny afternoon.
