There's no doubt in my mind that most people are going to be captivated with “An Angel Healed”. It's engaging, features witty protagonists, mystery, the right amount of anticipation and a romantic story line. I couldn't put it down for even a second. It's just one of those romances that will entertain you and make you fall hard all at the same time. This story is a very pleasant way to spend some your free time.
The world building was phenomenal and the picture painted was so real, I could see it play by play in my head. And Annalisa Russo’s story telling ability is a work of art. This was a fun, fast read. I completely enjoyed the way that the author writes.
If you like suspense and romance I highly recommend that you read this engaging novel. You won't go wrong with this book. I will definitely read more books of this author. I hope you enjoy reading this story as much as I did!
This book is the second in a series but also stands on its own. The characters of Rafe and Hope were so likable right from the beginning and just kept growing on me as I read. The Cavelli family is a wonderful support system for these two as their relationship progresses. The story is engaging from the start and you can’t help but root for these two.
Alinefromabook’s recommendation: THUMBS-UP for a great love story with a little mystery thrown in. A worthy read!
My biggest criticism of this book is that the critical events are described through somebody telling what someone else told them. I would much prefer the scene to be shown. Russo seems to avoid action scenes, and for me, this is not good if a key part of the story involves a murder. If a character knows what happened, the author should show it. If nobody else believes her, show that too, as that brings in the tension. In some ways there is also too much there, because while there are a number of threads (and I like that) there are also loose ends. The character Rafe is also not quite believable: men tend not to want to deeply investigate their feelings, and when something critical needs to be uncovered, they are far more likely to blunder in and do something rather than brood. However, on the good side, the story is reasonably complicated and there are some very good descriptions of what life during the period was probably like. With a little more experience, Russo could be an author to watch.
Annalisa has a creative way with words as she weaves a powerful, gripping tale of suspense and romance, captivating her readers’ hearts and minds in an epic saga that can’t be put down. Time-honored characters that bring history alive and in the case of Hope Macklin, a desire to see her determination and survivor instincts survive. Secrets, mysteries and even a ghost can they possibly lead to a happy ending? Take a trip back in time and don’t miss one word of this outstanding novel.
