No spoilers here - but in the pivotal scene in the book - I'm talking life/death, the boy's attitude while taking heroic measures to save a girl from a sinking car, he says, "She looked a little sad. Well, of course, she did. She was about to drown and couldn't get out." Or this one, "I thought the driver was on his cell phone and just didn't realize he'd driven into Lake Michigan." Even those few lines pulled off the page are perfect examples of the tone of the book.
It's funny, smart, entertaining with a supernatural hook, a message of hope in the under current and a touch of teen romance. Don't know what else you need:) Unexpected ending, by the way;)
There are more books on the way in this series, so says the author. I will be waiting.
Characters: As mentioned, the characters are not the same as the first book, but they still move you to feel whatever they are feeling. I enjoy Evan's thought pattern. They are similar to Josh's in the first book, yet entirely different, but it still brings emotion to the storyline.
So, what is the result to this equation? The book is a winner! I am anticipating the next book. And as if I were not dead serious about it being a movie while it. I was dead serious! This is another fantastic read, and it sends the message of forgiveness. Who do you need to forgive today?
Evan, a high school freshman, struggles at school. Then he rescues Angela, a popular 17-year-old girl.
When she gets into his head, the fun begins.
If I could give a rating above five stars, I would. The characters were realistic, ones I could imagine at my high school. Which in reading the book took me back to that time. Saying Ron took the reader into the heads of the characters would be a funny pun, so I’ll not state it.
This read was funny and deep. It had an amazing lesson on forgiveness and the power of it. I hope many high schoolers and parents read this book. I recommend it and look forward to the next book in the series. I already miss the characters.
