I use the Amazon feedback rating a lot when deciding if I should buy a book and for the most part - it is 100% on target. But this book? No way. These 5 star ratings have got to be the author's friends pumping the book.
To begin with - the writing is sloppy and simplistic. The use of an adjective or two would help, but this author doesn't seem to think that anything, anyone or any place needs to be described. The writing is like one very long, one sided conversation with herself. Any editor would have seen this two pages into the book. Its like the story is half baked or a first draft.
The characters are boring, especially the main character Mercy, who borders on moronic. I'm half way through and I've yet to know or realize where she lives or anything about her history.
Honestly - I only paid ninety nine cents and my guess is because this is a self-published book. Do not waste your pennies on this. Apparently with enough friends any book can get a great rating.
