Dashiell and Cael were so different yet they had a connection that was the basis of hope and love. i love how complex both men were and how the events of the story allow them to both become their best selves. Their connection was steamy and their love could be felt by the reader. I am so glad that i read this story! i expect it will be a re-read for me!
The story-line was creative and i am hoping that there will be more books coming along exploring the many possibilities that the ending offered up.
Angel’s Fall is the story of Dashiel, a half angel who was deprived of his wings and his glory when he failed to stop a crazed demi-god who wanted to overthrow the Malachim…. Dashiel is convinced Illam Kane is dead, so when Cael approaches him asking for help to try to find Illam, Dashiel refuses to believe him. In an attempt to find the truth and get rid of Cael, Dashiel decides to make some enquires… Only to find that the secrets and deceptions behind Illan are darker than they ever expected, and threaten to destroy everything. Dashiel and Cael start a race against time, fending off powerful enemies with the help of few allies, while trying to understand what they feel for each other….
With two really likeable main characters, the strength of this story relies upon the action, which is relentless, and the fascinating world building, although I must recognise the latter was a bit overwhelming at the beginning. Anyhow, the fast paced narration keeps drawing the reader forward, making it almost impossible to drop the story. I really enjoyed it from the beginning to the end, and will be really happy to continue reading about the fascinating universe depicted in this book
As reading, I felt a bit like I had missed part of the story that set us up for Dashiell's redemption, but I am not aware of a previous book. The author took great pains to create a world where angels have specific tasks and differing levels of power, and the opposing underworld of fallen angel demons with some demi-gods and references to Greek mythology. It was confusing at times, with journeys through time, various planes of existence, and earthly to supernatural, but the plot kept moving and the main action was not hard to follow. I don't read stories with angels that often; that may be why the logistics of their world confused me. The author maintained a sense of urgency and impending crisis throughout, but kept things hopeful by building Cael's and Dashiell's closeness and their mutual trust and reliance.
In brief, a quick, action-packed romance with some unexpected secrets and twists, leading to a satisfying conclusion--an enjoyable read.:-)
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
I enjoyed this story. Dashiell has been living in the human realm after being exiled from the angels and his trust in them is lower than ever. Cael is an optimist young angel sent to get Dashiell to help find one he thought dead.
I enjoyed the play between Dashiell and Cael. I understand Dashiell’s view of the angels and agreed on their corruptness in the story. I could see Cael’s hurt when he started to see that everything he had been told wasn’t quite correct. These two work well together and I liked how the romance between them was downplayed but would have liked to see them actually working on a relationship just a little bit more.
Dashiell and Cael are two sides of the Angel coin, but it actually works. Dashiell lost his wings and has been in a kind of limbo ever since. And rather pissy about the whole thing.
Cael is a perfect Angel in every way...until he’s not.
Both characters were fully fleshed out. You develop feelings for both for different reasons and it’s glorious.
I really hope that there is going to be more in this world. It’s one of those books you read more than once because it’s so enjoyable.
Well done Liv Rider!
I received a review copy of the book for an honest review
I'm always a little hesitant when I pick up a book with Angels in it as too many tend to be a little heavy on the Christian ideology, but I'm really glad I picked this one up. There is a good bit of mythology to the background of the story, but it doesn't come across as overtly religious in nature.
This book had an amazing amount of world-building for such a short story. I do think the connection between MCs could have done with a bit more development, it was very insta-love. Still the story had a good flow, enough supporting characters to flesh-out the story, and didn't get bogged down in the details.
