Natalie Thomas brings detective Serena Wilcox back for a brand-new thriller. In this new book, Serena Wilcox finds herself in a situation where she must choose to protect herself, her husband, and most importantly, her children. She and her family are on the run. Hiding deep within a country that has been torn apart, literally, from the ravishes of WW III. Eyes are everywhere, though, and soon, the hiding turns into a fast-paced game of cat-and-mouse, with Serena and her family in the center.
Spell-binding, this is one book that is hard to put down. So glad I read it. I enjoyed every minute of it.
I wish the author had taken a little more time to hash out the story lines and characters, because I really do think the idea was good.
It would be helpful if there were more detail about everyday life in the US following WWIII; it seems as though some cities were completely wiped out but life went on relatively unchanged elsewhere. I'd like to know why there wasn't an economic collapse, why communications and interstate commerce weren't also decimated, or if that happened but the country had managed to recover somewhat. I think this author's fertile mind could have fleshed out her plot to write a richer, more in-depth and better book.
It was puzzling to see the anti-ID chip software referred to in the book as both Angel Mark and Angels Mark...I would have thought Angel's Mark would have been the right way to write it. A little glitch like that certainly won't keep me from diving right into the next book in the series, 'Covert Coffee,' though!

I am not a reader of political thrillers. Usually never finish the books I've borrowed or gotten for free. But this series really has me hooked. Read morePublished 3 months ago by Marie Christy
An easy reading story of a fractured America. Political commentary abounded and the story was at times unrealistic. Nevertheless, the author earned her four stars.Published 5 months ago by Gary Parker
I found that this was slow at first and some of the twist and turns didn't seem to make sense. If everyone knew what everyone was doing than this plot was not though through.Published 9 months ago by Mj
As I read this book I kept thinking this could really happen. Hopefully not the nuclear attack, but the "new government" is way too real. Read morePublished 9 months ago by Pat Gilland
An interesting take on the US in the near future. A good mix of fact and fiction. A real cliff hanger ending.Published 10 months ago by Beach Reader
