An Angel’s Torment is the prequel to Eternally Mated series. This story focuses on Tegan and Ana the human he falls in love with. It’s their meeting, courtship, and what comes next. It’s not a happy story. No HEA.
It doesn’t need to be read; before starting the Eternally Mated series.
I read the Eternally Mated books; before reading the prequel. In the books and this short story it explains that only male Angel’s are born, so the Tribunal decreed a long time ago that it would be best for certain Angel’s to impregnate a human woman and then walk away. The women do have a choice in this. Why is this done? Because the human will only birth a female who one day can mate with an Angel. This little tidbit in the world makes me uncomfortable. I never liked it. It feels wrong. I get it, but it has always made me uneasy.
Back to An Angel’s Torment. The writing is well done. Their was an interesting appearance and a very nice love scene. Tegan loves Ana, but deep down he knows they won’t get their happy ever after and what they do get are a few months of happiness and love. It’s a sad story.
I felt that this short story was not necessary unless the author is planning on giving Tegan an HEA. It's just too sad and heartbreaking.
Rated: 2 Stars
It's a profound love story between a True Angel and a human woman who are truly mated. After years of being a warrior for good, he has the duty of procreating, thus insuring the continuation of mates for his species.
Ms. Twombly's writing uses descriptive images to create an engaging world, and compelling characters who will make their appearances in the series that follow.
Teagan knows Ana is his True Mate. Though, knowing this, he will do his duty. He goes to the Tribunal to request to mark his mate, and has to make a choice. Continue being a warrior or put his love in danger. Read this exciting short read and you will want to read the next books in the series.
I recommend this story for readers who love stories with Angels, Demons, and other supernatural forces.
I chose to review this book on my own.
In this story, readers learn that Tegan has loved - and lost - three important women in his lifetime. His mother, also a Nephilim, was eternally bonded to his father; his father fell from grace and turned to darkness before his death. Tegan's mother, readers are told, allegedly becomes Lucifer's mistress and offers not only intriguing insight into Tegan, but also the possible beginning storyline of a future book. (Wouldn't that be a thrilling read? A Nephilim once bonded to an angel, now sharing Lucifer's bed?) Tegan and Ana's daughter, Ashley, will be the female protagonist in the first two books of this series, "Fall Into Darkness" and "Veiled In Darkness". Her future mate is Eli, Tegan's best friend and best Hunter. Hunter's are elite angels tasked with battling demons, creating new Nephilim's, and keeping humanity safe. It is unclear at this time if the future books will also be short stories or novella length, versus a full-length novel.
Tegan is described as a strong male, beautiful to look at as well as loving and caring to be around and the sex scenes between Tegan and his love, Ana, were titillating. This short story left this reader wanting more, which should be the goal of any good writer. Twombly answered most questions poised in the short story, but left one important detail - well, important to this reader, at least - unanswered. This reader intends to follow this series and hopes that one question will eventually be answered in Ashley's story, so highly recommends this planned series.
I really loved this prequel. I think it was a great introduction into the Eternally Mated series and a great background story for Tegan. I loved the way Tegan and Ana fell in love even if it was too fast. But that's the whole point of the male angels mating. I enjoyed getting glimpses into Eli and The Seven and the demons that lurk the earth.
This has gotten me so pumped for Fall into Darkness and I can't wait to see what's in store for this series. I really loved this and highly recommend reading this short prequel. It is beneficial to the story and excellently written. Looking forward to Ashley and Eli's destiny.
When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure but as it went on I really began to love it and that's why I gave it a 5 star rating for this book! There were twists and turns, and happiness and sadness. But that's what made it a 5 star book. I don't like spoilers in reviews so I will not put any in my reviews. I am hoping that in the next book it answers a few questions that I have from this book!
