I was initially looking for a book of exercises I could use with my Anglo-Saxon students to save me the trouble of designing in-class exercises. This book, unfortunately, was not it. It is merely an OCR scan of a much older text. The modern editors for unfathomable reasons scanned the material in tiny print and formatted it into three thin columns of text on each page, using the most sparing of indentation for paragraph breaks. Charts and diagrams in the original text also get crushed down unhelpfully to fit the resulting tri-linear blob.
Equally irritating, the original version (before this edition) had a useful index referring to page numbers in the old version, but the lazy modern editors (or rather simple scanners) did not update it to reflect page numbers in the current layout--preferring simply to delete the index altogether.
The result was an unaesthetic, barely readable layout that combined the worst of "wall of text" reading with the worst possible usability. Even the OCR transcription was of dubious quality. I'm sticking with Mitchell and Robinson's _A Guide to Old English Grammar_ instead.

I have this book in printed form, so I figured a Kindle version would be nice to have as a quick reference.
Most, if not all, of the formatting is lost in this Kindle version. These are just a few examples, I did not want to make an exhaustive list:
Tables are lost, converted into a non-aligning, indented form.
When reading AS verse, textual structure is lost.
Near the end is a handy glossary, but is presented as simply a wall of text.
The material itself is quite useful, but I would recommend either acquiring a printed copy, or a copy of the HTML formatted text from Gutenberg.

I bought this book and the book is republished from very old grammar books. I guess it has some value, so I have not deleted it from my Kindle. I am still reading it and wishing the book will get better.

An old classic, well worth consulting for reference. Not wholeheartedly recommended for beginners in Old English, but certainly, if you continue in the language, to be added to your reference collection.

This was much too esoteric for me. I couldn't get past chapter 3. I thought it wold help me with my grammar in editing.

I got this book out of curiosity, wanting to know more about how the English language developed out of the mix of people in the British Isles. It is a "bit" dated, written in the early years of the last century, but good enough for my needs.

I love the free books for the Kindle. They greatly expand our homeschool reading beyond what we can find at our library as well as allow us to keep a copy as long as we need. It has been fun to compare grammar teachings over time.

The content is good but there are so many typos that it's difficult to read.
