A good book. I don’t agree with the other reviewer that the photos are poor as I think them good and clear particularly the one of what is left of Bristol Castle Keep. They should do more to explain Norman Bristol but don’t so this is a good introduction. I wish it had more of the water colours they have for castles nationally you can get (ie Chepstow, Conway, Harlech etc in their heyday), showing the parts of the castle and how they looked and their prospect within modern Bristol, which would make that and if they extended to other parts of Bristol this would be good as well. I have always been fascinated by the Castle so this is good for that alone. Better watercolours and local info with them to central Bristol would make this 5 Stars.
