1. It's cheaper to blow them up at an Albertsons than a Ralphs.
2. More than 2 in a room and the remotes will get confused.
We discovered this upon presenting 5 birds to an excited bunch of our nieces and newphews, only to scramble to figure out who was controlling whos, and having to seperate them because some controllers were controlling two birds. To remedy this we had them fly their birds within their own spaces a certain distance apart.
3. Don't leave them in your car, regardless of how hot or cold it is. Because we wanted to present these already blown-up and assembled on Christmas, we had to have them blown up on Christmas Eve, incase there weren't any stores open on Christmas Day. Without anywhere else to hide them, they had to be left in the car. We hoped they would be okay for a night considering another reviewer had mentioned a bird had lasted them almost 2 months in normal room air, but they did lose a noticeable amount of helium in the span of a day trapped in our car like that.
4. Keep a string on them for younger children so they are easier to retrieve if you have any problems bringing them back down or they are just getting used to working them.
5. Each remote uses 4 alkaline batteries that will usually last for an hour of active flying
6. Of the 5 or 6 birds that we blew up, one of them had a leak.
7. If you purchase all colors, don't freak out that the only bird that has actual wings is the red one. We didn't know this because we've never played the actual game and frantically searched for wings when assembling the blue ones. I don't know why they only have the wings for the red one, but apparently that's just how they're made, or are in the game--according to one of the kids.
Reasons we loved these:
1. Unique and innovative gift--a flying remote controlled angry bird??? Hard pressed to find a kid (or adult) who wouldn't enjoy playing with one. We highly reccommend the flying shark as well, but that one can be scary for a toddler--we learned that the hard way :)
2. High entertainment value for the cost.
3. Easy controls and auto control option for novice users.
4. Pretty good quality, again for a very fair cost, especially for a licensed product.
The Air Swimmer does take a little preparation before your child can enjoy.
First we had to get helium in it at the store (ask for a string to hold it-and the balloon is big, so don't travel too far from home). Then it's another 20 minutes to put the motor on the balloon and put enough putty in the cup on the motor to weigh it down.
My 8 year old boy loves this to pieces. It is his first day having it, but it's been hours of fun.
