Dr. Lester's sharing of his own personal stories causes his work to speak to the real issues anger brings to daily living. He begins by asserting everyone experiences anger, but our culture teaches us to ignore it or bury it. He leaves no stone unturned in covering the topic. Though the last three chapters have some wonderful suggestions about how to deal with anger in a constructive, meaningful way, the work he presents from history, science and theology is very insightful and paints a detailed picture of our anger response and the meaning we assign to it. He writes making use of the narrative perspective.

I came to the conclusion we have done with anger what the Victorians did with sex, we don't acknowledge it and we don't talk about it. If we do talk about anger, it is always in a negative, judgmental way. Even though he writes from a Christian perspective, what the reader will learn is of value regardless of their spiritual perspective. It's a great read and affirms the value of anger in the human condition.

This is the best book I have ever read concerning anger. You are given an explanation of anger and its many manifestations. I was able to understand that anger is both good and bad. The author has spent a great deal of time on this most important topic. Andy Lester was a member of my church for a few years and he really lives his words of wisdom. It is a must read for these days and a must keep book for future reference. Learn about reframing.

This is an excellent book. I don't think that I have ever heard this topic covered before. There may be other books out there, but it isn't a commonly covered topic.
I am not a fast reader, but I read this book in a little over 1 day. I couldn't put it down.

I read the small book "Coping With Your Anger" by Andrew Lester first which prompted me to purchase "The Angry Christian" which I am about halfway finished with at this time. I would recommend both books 100% to anyone who is searching for answers to the issues of anger. This is the absolute best information I have ever read in regard to the most misunderstood emotion known to man and I have read quite a few books on the subject. I wish there were cd's available with the core of Lester's teachings on them because I want this knowledge to be ingrained within my thoughts.
