I found out it pays to read the reviews here.The Anker is a great replacement for the original.Fits perfect and barely gets warm,heat kills these adapters so thats important along with the fit of the plug.
In a nut shell,not the cheapest model but its a quality power supply, well worth the 20.00 I paid for it.Wish I had bought it earlier.
* It works.
* It's cheaper than a name-brand replacement.
* The power circuitry seems to be better designed than the OEM adaptor (not difficult).
* Over time, the barrel connector that attaches to the laptop loosens up. You'll have to be mindful of how you move the laptop and the cord to avoid having them come apart -just enough- to stop charging.
* The AC cord is unusually short. However, it's a standard IEC type, so you can replace it with a longer one if you like.
I gave this power cable a shot since I've had good luck with Anker products in the past. It has been on for a few weeks and the brick part is room temperature and it has been working fine. The N66U has a 19V, 1.58A, 33.48W power supply but this 19.1V, 2.1A, 40W power supply works fine.
You can look through Asus' site to see which models are compatible with this power cable. It's comparable to their 40W.
For reference, my old Asus power supply was model EXA1004UH. You may not find that model number on Asus' site. There's a second number that matches their site on the bottom of the power supply: 0A001-0020400248.
The charger itself is solid and charges my ASUS Eee (a dying breed, I know) flawlessly. It remains noticeably cooler than both the original charger that came with the unit (RIP - ran very hot from day one), as well as the Bestek charger I purchased to replace it - the latter lasted only nine months and also ran hot before it died in a puff of smoke. The input plug of this unit fits snugly against my laptop (1201N) with no "extra" plug extending from the computer itself. The charging brick is only slightly larger than the original and the above-referenced first replacement unit that failed, but my assumption is that the slightly larger size allows for more heat dispersion.
I don't know who Anker is, but clearly, they set out from day one to put the customer at the top of their priority list and it shows. Their products routinely outperform the listed specs. With this product, I can say that I feel I can rely on them for extremely quick support, no hassle exchanges in the unlikely event needed, and a sense that I'm not just about my money and the sale - they have equaled Amazon in my willingness to trust them as a company. Sorry that this is as much about Anker as the charger, but they deserve the plaudits.Read more ›

Feels sturdy. Doesn't get too hot. All good and no issues after 2 months. Check out the extreme failure rate of the cheap(er) ones and go with Anker.Published on May 11, 2014 by murielkid2
