The 1.5A USB charging port is indicated by the battery icon next to it.
The other two USB ports are intended for data transfer and connecting peripherals. They only provide a minimal 0.9A charging output.
The extended cable is 0.6 ft long.

The Air has only two USB-C ports -- one of which must be used to charge it. I keep my USB powered Time Machine external HD plugged in at all times and tried using an Apple USB to USB-C adapter to connect it to the second port. That did work, but didn't leave me another available port into which I could plug a thumb drive or to back up to iTunes my iPhoneX and iPad Pro -- so I had to unplug either the charging cable or the Time Machine HD. That was getting to be a pain after a couple of days, so I began doing extensive research on how to solve this problem of limited ports and discovered the pass-through charging feature now available on newer USB-C supported hubs.
When I say I do research, I mean I do research, and lots of it. I look first at the professional tech publications and then at customer reviews on Amazon and other retails sites -- that's how I first discovered Anker products -- which are highly recommended by the professional tech reviewers and customers alike -- and have used them now for several years with great satisfaction of their quality products. Purchasing this Anker hub showed me even more the quality of Anker's customer service department and their dedication to providing exemplary service.
When my hub first arrived I immediately plugged my Air's charging cable into the hub, then plugged the hub into one of the Air's ports. After about 45 minutes there was no evidence that it had charged at all (I'd let my battery run down to 85% so I could test the hub's speed of charging). The USB ports on the hub appeared to work properly when I plugged in my Time Machine HD and thumb drive -- but the USB-C pass-thru port that's used only for charging did not. I then plugged the hub into the other Air port and got the same results. I returned the hub to Amazon and explained the issue but did not notify Anker.
Within 48 hours Rankin, of Anker Customer Service, sent me an email indicating they would like to send me a replacement hub to re-evaluate. I accepted their offer and the hub arrived two days later. I know that manufacturing defects can at times slip through the testing process -- it just happens -- and this does not deter me from again purchasing Anker products.
I am happy to say the replacement hub works perfectly and is making working on my new MacBook Air a delight. I now have one available port into which I can use a Lightning to USB-C cable to backup my iPhone and iPad Pro to iTunes. And an added bonus -- the end of the plug that fits into the Air's port is so much more sturdy than that of the Apple cables and adapters, which are small and hard to hold on to when removing them from the Air's ports. That's a real benefit and sign of a quality product.
Again, Anker has proven to be a superior company -- both with their products and with the dedication to their customers. And Rankin (Customer Service rep) is a credit to the type of employee Anker hires.
Revising my update to 4 stars due to inconveniance. Firmware update fixed the problems. I had to give them a screenshot of my email so that they can email me back the file. For those who are still having issues, the firmware software is actually on their website on the product page so you don't even need to get in contact with their support.
Anker customer support, in a hard to understand email, wants me to plug the hub into a windows computer and upgrade the FW with a software attached to the email. I probably would have attempted it before returning but they didn't attach the software to the email. Instead just 2 pictures of how to do it... Below is the email. Kudos for trying, I guess?

Cursor keeps freezing and jumping when this hub is plugged into my MacBook Pro 2018 Mojave. I tried different ports and connected the hub to the computer without any peripherals attached. No change. Console shot up a ton of errors when I checked. Tried other hubs I own, no problems.
Love Anker products but this one was a dud for me.
My Pixel 2's default, when plugged into this hub, while connected to power, is to be charging only (not data transfer). It isn't charging "rapidly", but does charge both the phone and the Pixelbook at once.
Very convenient hub to allow USB-A devices, like USB drives, to be used with the Pixelbook. Also great for laptops without a SD card slot. You can charge your laptop, charge your phone, and transfer your photos.
Mouse cursor keeps jumping around only when the hub is plugged into my 2018 MacBook Pro. The build quality is nice and comes with a decent holding pouch but an issue like this right out of the box leaves a bitter first impression.

Like a lot of people, I need USB connections on my MacBook Pro. Apples USB C to USB dongle is expensive and only gives you 1 port. This Belkin one gives you 3 ports plus a charging point so you can charge your laptop as well (Great Idea). The connector lead from the device is also a little longer than others which is a welcome addition.
I’m very pleased with this.
