This hub seems to be of a solid build, 3 USB 2.0 slots working great, can't speak to the HDMI out functionality, but I'm writing like other customers because I'm having issues with the Ethernet port.
I purchased this so I can route a stable Ethernet connection to my device, rather than wifi, but the Ethernet port doesn't appear to be working. Really bummed, as this the sole purpose I got it for, (the added USB slots are a worthwhile bonus over a simple USB c to Ethernet adapter).
I intend to use this as a hub to get KB+m, usb keyboard, and Ethernet for gaming via Nvidia Gamestream / Moonlight. Please help....I don't want to have to return this to buy a hub from another supplier, as Ive been very satisfied with Anker in the past.
I wish the cable was a tad bit longer but I understand why it is given the carrying case . I like the color and the build quality is pretty good. This adapter runs cooler than my another adapter I purchased that only does HDMI. The transfer speed were pretty fast when I used my Samsung T5 drive. I didn't run any proper test, but I was transferring 5.5-6 GB files in the matter of seconds. I did transfer files back and forth to test the heat of this thing and it didn't get too hot. I have not had the chance to test Ethernet port, but if I have any issues with ease of use or slow speeds, I will update my review within a day.
The carrying case is a surprising nice touch I didn't think I needed or wanted.
Macbook Pro: 2018 - i9
OS: High Sierra10.13.6 (17G2208)
Cable: Amazon Basics HDMI Cable (Transmits audio w/ 2014 MBP)
I usually charge my phone and extra batteries off of my computer when traveling, and did not notice in the item description this wasn’t possible with this adaptor. The information provided with the adaptor makes it clear this is not designed for external hard drives, phones, etc but it is hard to find that clarity on the Amazon listing.
Besides this issue (which is my fault for not fully researching the product), it is well made, HDMI out works, and the storage pouch it comes with is a plus.
After purchasing this item I saw an updated version with pass through power and card readers will be available soon, and that version would have been more worth the investment for my needs.
When I saw Anker had their own solution to a USB-C hub, I knew I needed it. I use an external monitor (1080p) for school with a wired keyboard (see picture). I also really like having the option of plugging into ethernet directly. This is the perfect product for my needs. It has been a super reliable plug-and-play hub. The device does not get hot at all (I'm not even sure I'd call it warm) even when using 2 USB ports and the HDMI port for a couple of hours. The size is perfect, and it plugs snugly into the USB-C port on my Dell. There is a small indicator light on the hub which does not bother at all when all lights are off. I'm really very happy with this product, it has been very worth the money for me.

- Gigabit ethernet (at least on my case) upload speed gets dropped to half speed, if I use a standalone converter this doesn't happen.
If you need a more robust adapter is better to look somewhere else.
This means that if you have any external hard drive, or a server mounted using the ethernet on it, the connection drops and causes issues.
The only way to use this is to have the laptop and hub sitting on a desk and don't dare move anything.
Such a shame Anker usually produce such high quality products (and I've got a lot of them too). This one doesn't seem that well constructed though as the weakness makes it so hard to use.
Ethernet worked great copying large files to my Mac.
USB ports faced the right way up (unlike some other adapters I’ve had), and worked great.
Doesn’t overheat like other adapters I’ve tried.
Form factor is really nice, compact and functional. My old 4-port Hub was larger and ran a lot hotter.
Yeah it’s a bit more pricey but the small amount more is worth it.
While I mostly use it for my laptop (mouse and keyboard etc), I plugged it into my Samsung S8+ the other day and the HDMI, mouse and keyboard all just worked.
