The Anker power adapter arrived promptly, works perfectly, and feels generally solid and well built. The connections are all solid. As a warning, unlike the default Lenovo cord, this one has a 3 prong plug. I personally prefer it since the connection is more solid, but if you need to use your cable often with 2 prong extension cord outlets, this could be a problem.

My only complaint is that that the included velcro strap for wrapping up the cable is only loosely attached, and I expect it will fall off and I'll lose it before long. Still, I'm happy with what I got!

I bought this adapter back in September. It's working fine until today when I'm hearing some crackling noise under my desk. Saw sparks coming out the adapter and I quickly removed the adapter from the power strip before who knows what. I don't want to risk it catching fire with the carpet.

I'm very relieved that it happened while I'm using it here at work and not while I leave it unattended especially overnight!

Emailed the seller for a refund... we will see how that goes.

I ordered this in May; it broke last week. I had assumed it would eventually overheat, as this thing gets SUPER-hot when it's plugged in. I've brushed my arm across it in the past and it actually burned. But no, in the end it seems some wires were just shaken loose.

The company that mails these out likes to send follow up emails after you leave a seller review on their page, and invites you to contact them regarding any questions or concerns. Unfortunately I didn't save those messages, and because they're an Amazon-backed seller, it's basically impossible to get in touch with them through their seller page. You're directed to Amazon customer service instead.

Luckily, Amazon has the best customer service in retail. I sent in my complaint and was issued a refund, even though I was well past the 30 day limit. So, even if I'm disappointed with the quality of the product, I'm extremely grateful to Amazon for issuing a refund.

I give it two stars because it's cheap (it was actually down to $13 when I ordered it a few months ago), so really, how much can you expect? If you need a quick fix, this is as good an option as any. I've actually ordered a replacement of the same adapter. I've had my current laptop for a little over 3 years now, so I figure I'll be on the market for a new one early next year. This should last til then (fingers crossed!).

If you're looking for a more permanent replacement, better to spare the expense on something that might actually last.

UPDATE 10/04/11: Well, as mentioned in the review, I ordered a replacement of the same adapter. That one lasted a grand total of 10 days. This time, because the company had left a comment on this review, I was able to contact them directly.

They agreed to send me a replacement adapter (this is my third), and also sent me a $3 Amazon gift card to cover the price difference between the first two adapters that I purchased. This latter gesture was unnecessary on their part but very much appreciated. The replacement adapter arrived today, about a week after I first contacted the company.

All things considered, I have decided to bump this review up to three stars. While I cannot attest to the sturdiness of the adapter, I can say that LaptopMate has top notch customer service. Even if you receive a dud like me, you can rest assured the company is very cooperative and they will work with you to correct any problems.

I bought this charger because my original ThinkPad charger died. It was a cheap alternative to the OEM's option. It worked for all of a month then it started crackling. I may not be an electrician or computer engineer but I know that chargers should be silent and shouldn't develop a noxious odor (yes, it smells like burning electronics now). I'm quite surprised that this thing didn't cause a short in my home's wiring.

In short: catastrophically broke in a month. Do not buy this.

I was initially nervous about ordering this product because it was inexpensive and not the dealer's authorized battery. After reading some other positive reviews I decided to go for it. I'm really glad I did.

It was shipped in a hard cardboard box and arrived in great condition. It works perfectly and is so much less than what the dealer wanted to charge me for the same product. I even think the cord is longer on this one than on my last adapter (another plus).

This is MUCH better than the other cheap versions available to replace the Lenovo AC adapter. I purchased one that looked like this, but was cheaper, and it was always hot and made noise. Eventually, even though I was very careful (e.g. did not leave it plugged in when not in use, shut down before unplugging it, etc.) it burned out. This one doesn't heat up, doesn't have an annoying hum. I have had it for a couple of months and I am very pleased.

I waited a bit to write this review because I saw several reviews on these electronic gizmos dying after a month. Well mine is still going strong! I got a free Thinkpad from a gal at work, and needed an adapter for it - I bought this one because it seemed the right price - not the cheapest, but less expensive. I am happy to say I have gotten my money worth and it's stil working just fine. I would buy this same one if the current one dies out.

After reading reviews we purchased this replacement for our t400 ThinkPad (after our puppy destroyed the original cord). It was perfect and I have to say even better than the cord that came originally with our laptop. I like how it has a 3 pronged connection to the wall, it seems more secure and is obviously better grounded. Also, the cord is a lot more heavy duty. For the quality, price, compatibility and shipping it can't be beat.

This adapter seemed ok for the first 6 months, but as others have noted, it started cracking at the base and last night when my son was using it, let out sparks and was crackling. I won't continue to use it, as it likely isn't safe for my computer and certainly isn't safe for my house. I guess you get what you pay for it. Not worth the money!!

I purchased this replacement AC adapter with some trepidation, since it was so much less expensive than the original that shipped with my laptop. The adapter worked fine upon receipt, but died without warning a month later. Via Amazon, I contacted the company, a Chinese vendor. They offered an exchange with no argument, but said if I wanted a refund I would have to use the Amazon refund process. They sent out a replacement promptly and did not ask for the old (dead) adapter back again. They even called me on the phone to ask about the serial number of the failed adapter. It didn't have one, which the customer rep found odd (and so did I). The customer service rep was difficult to understand due to her strong accent, but it's unusual for a Chinese company to call up a customer unprompted so I give them points for trying to do the right thing.

UPDATE: the replacement adapter has been working now for at least a month. If that changes I will update the review again. For me the bottom line is that you do seem to get what you pay for, and some percentage of these adapters will fail. If that happens to you and you don't mind the aggravation of having to wait for a replacement, at least the company stands behind the product. Personally, I would prefer that they get it right the first time.

UPDATE: Since I left this review originally, the company has sent me three emails asking me to delete the review, including offering a financial incentive to do so. The dark side of attentive customer service is now obsessive customer service. I feel the review is a fair description of my experience. If, as the company asserts, only a small fraction of their adapters fail, then most of the reviews their products receive will be positive. But I don't want to delete the review and leave only rosy feedback when the product does, in fact, fail sometimes. So caveat emptor, you can't be sure that the reviews posted for this product (and presumably other products by the same company) have not been skewed positive by customers who were talked into deleting their negative reviews by the company.
